Sebenza as a user?

uh, I dont know about throw it on the ground!!!! LOL

but it does beg to be abused! much like Mr. Mayo's knives!!!
The very first time I dropped mine it was onto concrete. As soon as it left my hand I had this instant vision of the titanium shattering. When I picked it up it didn't even have a scratch.

Take it out and use it, these things are strong!

Thanks for the input, Garlic, but the Sebenza blows away even the stout Manix, IMO.

I can say this because I've had personal experience with both, and the Sebenza won hands down, again IMHO. I do agree that the Manix is very comfortable to hold and use, however, for my taste the Sebbie just can't be beat in ergos, lock strength, and durability.
i've had experience with both as well. i passed on the seb & kept the manix. the seb can pretty easily be twisted into disengagement, as can many frame or linerlocks. don't get me wrong, it's a jewel of a knife, but you can't compare the security of its locking mech to that of the manix. nor can you compare handle ergos, the manix is far more comfortable & secure, hands down. imperfect handle ergos is one of the common complaints about the seb, whereas handle ergos is the common rave about the manix. also, have you read cliff's review of the chinook's lock strength (same lock as manix)? my case rests. the seb is a beautiful work of engineering, but i'd take a manix for hard use any day of the week.

I used to be really fond of the Manix, so much so that I had two--a PE and a CE. But once receiving the Sebbie, all other knives lost all my interest including that Spydie.

The Sebenza is by far, one of the most comfortable knives that I've handled....not taking anything away from the Manix, though, because the ergos are exceptional as well. As far as the framelock versus the lockback, I find the CRK much easier to disengage than the latter, without sacrificing strength or durability. In short, I prefer the framelock to the lockback.

Of course, the most outstanding feature that the Sebbie has that the Manix does not is the ability to be disassembled and cleaned in every nook and cranny without voiding the warranty.

I also like the feel of the Sebenza but I must say that since getting the SnG I'm beginning to think it gives me the most secure grip of any knife I've handled. Maybe it just suits my particular hand shape/size.

good points shadow. i'm sort of the opposite - used to be really fond of the seb, but when the manix hit the shelves, it was way more "me", & it was all over for the seb; i was VERY close to getting one. if CRK made a larger sebenza, then i'd probably be all over it like white on rice.

If you want a larger Sebbie, you ought to look at the FireTac Extreme. A bit large for me, but everything else a Sebbie is so I've heard. My large Sebbie is about as big as I'd like to go in a folder, but that's just me.

thanks for the input rob, that's definitely my next (custom) purchase. unfortunately, there's a rather involved "customs" procedure that i must go through with my dear wifey before i get my hands on it. i'm gunning for my next birthday for that one. i'm well aware of the reputation & legend behind that knife.

I understand what you mean, Garlic. I felt the same way about the Manix versus the Military, however, I had been carrying the Millie for so long that anything else just didn't feel 'right'. I still don't think that another knife could fit my hand as well as the Manix, but I have found that the Sebenza is more for me at the moment.

At least for right now....

I will probably regret selling both of the Manixes, but right now the Sebbie really has me in its' clutches.....REAL good. :D

USE that Sebenza. Use it man! Great knife. Great precision make and finishing, all ready to get down and dirty. After a while, one trip to the CRK spa and you get to start all over again, as they come back looking like you just bought it.
