Ok, I guess we just have a diffrent strategies, you seem to want to get between two guys to break up a fight, and I just enjoy watching the fight, and when they're muddy, bloody, and worn out, laugh at them both, and thank them for putting on a great show! Heck, if it looks like a good fight, I'll even pick a side and join the fray!LOL
 
on another Sebenza thread but I guess it got lost in the shuffle. Did anyone have to save up to get one? Please tell me I'm not the only poor guy that has to save up to get nice things.

I saw it Frank, nope, you're not the only one. Though it helps when you've been collecting a while, and have enough knives you're tired of to help trade up! It just takes time. I'll see if I can email you a picture of one, I've been trying to save up, trade up to, for several years now.
 
I like the idea of a knife that will last a lifetime. I also like the idea of a personalized graphic on the scales. They seem like a sound investment, I just don't have a few hundred dollars at the moment.

That is the dumbest, most pretentious thing I have read in some time.

I think some people take any criticism of the Sebenza as bashing. Look pal, I DON'T LIKE THE SEBENZA. Is that bashing the thing? Nope. If I say I don't like Bud Lite, am I bashing Bud Lite, or am I just expressing my tastes? I'd say the latter, but apparently some think I'm bashing the stuff.

And now who's gonna step up to the plate and tell me that It's because I've never OWNED a Sebenza that I don't LIKE it. I don't like the looks of it. Don't have to own one to figger that out. I don't like the ergonomics of it (for MY hands, not yours). I don't have to buy one and own it before I figure that out either. Don't tell me I do.

And NOW who's gonna step up next to kutch133 and tell me I don't like it because I'm not FORTUNATE enough to afford one? Yep, I've never owned one. And the reason I've never owned one have nothing to do with how FORTUNATE I am. I don't own one because I DON'T LIKE IT. I don't like Dodge Neons either. Have I ever driven one? Nope. I don't own one because I don't like it. I am FORTUNATE enough to be able to afford a Dodge Neon and a dozen Sebenzas. I've bought FIXED BLADES that cost me more than a Sebenza. But I still ENVY YOU, don't I kutch?

Ya know, I am a knife nut. At some point in my life and hobby I was bound to own a benz, whether it be in a trade or just because. But now the more I think about it, the less I wish to be associated with the likes of kutch133. Think I'll stick with the custom stuff, and not because I am FORTUNATE, or so people will ENVY me secretly, but because I LIKE customs.
 
My buddy Vel made a great post. I don't own a sebenza. I HAVE used and handled them. I do not like them. Are they a well made knife? Of course they are. The fit and finish is good and the lock-up is solid.
On the other side, the ergonomics sucks. I will NOT carry a tip-up folder, period. The lack of choices really turns me off. I like being able to pick my handle materials and blade shape and blade steel.
One of the main reasons I do not like the knife, IS the price. Is it because I can't afford the knife? Nope. I have a collection of custom folders that cost anywhere from $300-700. The reason I don't like the price range, is because it is in the custom knife range. This is especially true when you look into the special edition sebbies. I can get customs from excellent makers, knives that will hold value. Knives where I can choose the material, blade shapes, and other design elements.
People say the sebbie isn't overpriced... I have to disagree. When you constantly see a knife selling for 2/3's the cost on the forums, the knife is overpriced. It's pretty simple.
I'm not "bashing" the sebenza, I simply don't like it FOR ME. And like Vel, i get sick and tired of hearing people say the only reason I don't like it is because I am too deprived not to own one. That is the most prickish arrogant attitude I have ever seen, and a big reason people jump on the benza and benza owners. CRK is a good company and makes good knive. I have one of their fixed blades and love it. Great piece of work.
However, outside of the flawless world of sebenzatopia, people actually can afford the knife, have used and handled the knife, and still think it sucks for them in that price range. Is that concept that hard to grasp? "The only reason you hate the sebbie is you have never owned one." No, the reason I don't like the sebbie is because it is a poor choice for the price and falls way down my list of knives I would ever consider buying.

Vel that is good enough for me. I don't like the Benza iether. In fact I don't own one, but I have had one, used one for more than a few weeks, and think there are many other knives out there that are a lot better. The Benza surly isn't a great cutter, nore is it the strongest knife made iether. Is it put togather well, sure it is. But I like what I like and am damn sure glad I didn't need to buy one to find out that it is the best hypede knife on the planet, by it's owners.

I think that pretty well sums it up.
I've read many opinions on the Sebenza and I respect many of them.
I think the most annoying thing about Sebenza owners (here at least) is the rampant me-to-ism you find on threads.
Generally I don't post anything unless Ive got something to add but Sebsters seem compelled to post " I like them too" as if their favorite knife would be discredited if they didn't.
Ive checked them out. I don't quite get it.
For my money there are lots of choices before one on the list.

However Im glad you like your Sebenza.
Please don't get your feelings hurt if I decide not to get one.

I am not brownshoes, he/she is a troll. This identity theft is just another example of the illogical emotional attachment some have to this product. My posts have never bashed sebenza owners but given some of their behaviour over the past week, their actions speak for themselves. The sebenza was not "bashed", I just summarized some reported facts. Thanks Kref and to those others who have open minds.
 
I would not be so quick to blame a Sebenza owner for the identity theft. There are plenty of trolls out there who will incite flame wars any way they can.
