Does anyone know the general time it takes to break in a new sebenza. I got mine new and it just doesnt seem quite as smooth as it should be and the detent seems a little strong. Does it wear in ?
Thanks for the help

Make sure you're not pressing the lock-bar against the blade with your fingers as you open it. This seems to be a common tendency for new CRK owners. As I open mine, I'll brace my pinky and ring finger down around the pocket clip so I have leverage without applying pressure to the lock-bar detent.

Just in case you're trying to flick it open and it seems too stiff that's because CRK's aren't meant to be flicked. Both my Sebenza's have a tight hydraulic feel to them and aren't flickable, at least not easily, which is fine with me because CRK recommends not flicking their knives anyway. ...That's a hypothetical answer based on assumptions.

Undertow 82 gave a great response! If you post your question in the CRK forum you'll probably get more responses a few CRK nuts that will also give good advise.
I have 5 different CRKs. A couple took several hundred open/close before they were really smooth. Don't be impatient. You have a Great knife and it will get better and
smoother with a little time.

sure seemed to make a difference to mine, if the screw was tightend as tight as you could get it the knife was very stiff to open. backed off just a smidge but still tight was much better. same for my umnuzman.

Two things can happen with a CRK folder:
Either you break it in, or it breaks YOU in:D.

I swear I've got a callus on my thumb because of constantly using my Umnumzaan:thumbup:.

Makes no difference on a Sebenza due to the use of a spacer/bushing between the handles.

That is what i thought at first too, but the Lg Micarta I have was somewhat tougher to open until I cut back just a little on the pivot. It is perfect now. BTW - Oil the Joints ;)

Press the lockbar towards the spine a litle then move it to the left.

The Para2 (and Manix2, which uses the same bushing design as the Para2) are not the same as the Sebenza.

Yes. The Spyderco bushing system is more like a fat, wide nut that two screws are threaded into. It is still possible to over or under-tighten the pivot, but it is a BIG improvement over standard pivot screws.

The Sebenza's slips over the Chicago screw and floats. Properly made to the correct tolerances (which CRK is known for), it will be impossible to over or under tighten the pivot. Even without the pivot screw on my Sebenza it still opens and locks up.

Precisely so. ;)
