Sebenza Dilema

I'm new around here, but have been doing some research for the last month or so. I'm not sure exactly how I got into knives, but I definitely know that I have a huge interest in them. I also have interest in high quality craftsmanship, so I think a Sebenza is right up my ally. I have a dilema that I am trying to resolve and would like some input from the community. I am interested in the KA CF Large Sebenza 21, the new Sebenza 25, and the large Sebenza 21 with Carbon Fiber Inlays. I also waver back and forth on just getting one with another inlay such as Micarta or just going regular plain jane. So, for those of you that have multiple CRK knives (or one I listed) can you give me some insight on what you might go with and why...I know the Sebbie 25 and the Sebbie 21 with CF Inlays are pretty hard to come by right now, but I can wait. I think overall I like the styling of the CF Inlay the best, but also really like the look the the all CF one (and it's available now). Thanks in advance, I love this forum and have learned a ton over the last month or so!

I would suggest getting a 21 of whatever style you want and get a 25 later since the 25 is bound to be around in production longer since it was just released. It might be more difficult to get some of those particular 21's later so get them while they are available.

I have 4 Large Sebenzas and I also plan to get a 25, but the Plane Jane Sebenze is my favorite because it is simple and classic.

I'd go for the CF scale Sebbie (not the inlays), if you like CF. Or a 25 plain. I have no patience, so am not a good advisor in waiting..

I have a "plain Jane" 21. I like it, but I wish I had gotten the carbon fiber one or an Umnumzaan. Just more my taste. Which one speaks to you?

Thanks for the replies. I like the fact that Carbon Fiber would give it more character, but also like the simplicity of the regular Seb (classic look). Decisions, decisions....

I have a Large 21 insingo with Micarta and a 25. I can't tell you if it is because the 25 is new or not but I haven't carried my 21 since I got the 25. The 25 is a fantastic knife. As good as the 21 is, the 25 is just a little bit better in my opinion. The extra heft, new lock interface and lockbar tension on my 25 adds just a little bit of a FEEL of it being a little more solid than the 21. The 21 locks up like a 12 inch thick steel bank vault, the 25 locks up like a 14 inch thick steel bank vault. For me, with these high end "mid-techs" it's the little details that make the difference. My 21 was my favorite knife, until I got the 25-It really is perfect in my opinion. As others have said, it is largely a matter of taste. Good luck, you can't go wrong with any that you have listed.

Buy both, and if you don't like one as much as the other, sell it or trade.

Good luck

I would go with the plain TI or micarta. The reason being, you can have the scales refinished later on if you decide to sell it or want to make it look new again.

I have a 21 insingo plain, and my next will either be a KA CF large or a 25 depending on what comes up first when I have the money. I will own both, and then move onto inlays later.

I agree. These two are the only ones that can have their handles reblasted.

I also think they look the best.

I don't see many of the all CF ones for sale used. I think KA had a nice idea and the knives are pretty sweet. You get a lighter knife that's still quite tough.

I'd go KA CF, then get a 25 later when they're more available. I don't see that design going away anytime soon.

Love my plain Seb and Starbenza but if I got another I'd go for the carbon fiber version. The weight difference would be interesting.

I've had the CF, and still have the 21, 25, Umnumzaan's, & Insingo's- they're all great knives.

The 25 does "feel" beefier but the 21 is no slouch, I usually pick my large Insingo as my daily knife and the 25 takes a close second place to it. I used to carry an Umnum as my edc but the 25 basically retired it.

The CF Seb is a VERY NICE KNIFE! If you like the look of the cf I'd suggest, as others have, getting it first.
You don't know how long it'll be available and the 25 is just hitting the shelves in comparison.

Most importantly, get the one that's calling out to you the loudest, it'll bring you the most joy- until you find another one that you want ;D

Yeah, I really do like the 21 with the CF Inlays but I have a feeling it will be hard to obtian. I would like to snag one of those, but I also do really like the KA CF 21 and they are in stock now, it's just that I have to make a decision.

I'd honestly keep an eye out on the exchange for a user plain jane 21. Can't go wrong and that will give you a good baseline if you'll like it or not. After that, holding out for a CF would be my recommendation.

Either way, good luck in your search!

Read this thread and just bought the large CF from KA. Looking forward to it. Looks beautiful and am guessing it's lighter. Thanks guys!

I had a small carbon fiber 21 and liked it. Super nice.
I love how light and strong it was.

The 25 imo, is simply the perfect edc carry. I love my two 21's and they are more than capable of anything I'd ask of them, but the 25 just has better ergonomics, it's smoother, and it's just slightly beefier. I am still amazed at how smooth the action is, to include disengaging the lock
