Sebenza Double Thumb Studs - Any Issues?

Greetings, I just picked up a used Small Insingo with dual thumb studs, it should arrive next week. I've owned several Sebenza through the years but none with double thumb studs and I'm wondering if they will interfere with the "normal" draw of the knife when it is clipped to a pocket? Does anyone with a dual thumb stud equipped Sebenza have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for your insight.

On the Sebenza, I either buy them with double lug or add the double lug. I have never noticed any problem at all with the draw. The only issue I have noticed is with the small, it is not real easy to open left handed. You have to get just the correct angle to open it,but this may be do totaly to left hand coordination.

all of mine are double lug, won't have them without. no issues opening it left handed(closing it is a bit tricky, but doable)

in the pants, no issues with it snagging anything(unless you had mesh pockets :/

for me it's also aesthetically/symmetrically pleasing to see both on there, congrads on finally snagging one

I carry a small micarta insingo w/ dual lugs on a regular basis - no snags or other issues to speak of. As Peter mentioned above, it is a bit challenging to open left handed versus a large {I have large thumbs/hands...}.

Dual lugs are the only way to go, IMO...

Nope. Double lugs are the bees knees. Not sure how the single luggers even make it out the door in the morning.

I'm gonna go against the grain and state my experience has been different with the double-studs on my Small Regular, circa 2004, in that it does catch the pockets at times and actually will start to open if I'm not mindful of it happening. I find the studs to be much more pointy than those on my newer Sebs, though, so it might be the age of the model. It does look better, but I never had my single-studs partially open.

flipe8- i have a small reg 04 as well, but looking at my 21's their studs are pointier than my 04 reg. is yours like new? I'm curious if maybe my studs on the 04 are a bit worn down, or i don't know. I've never had an opening issue in the pocket though.

I strongly prefer double lugs for both functional and visual reasons. I currently have seven Sebenzas and all but one either came with double lugs or had them added by CRK. The lone holdout is a large Regular with a BG-42 blade. It has a matching small that I had double-lugged...I haven't had the large double-lugged because the off-side scale has to be relieved for the double lug, which means the scales have to be re-blasted, and I wasn't 100% enthusiastic about the results...so that one will stay single-lug for a while.

I have read posts by single-lug fans who were concerned about the extra drag and/or wear on clothing. I haven't found that to be a problem.

I actually filed the tips down a bit, as I found them to be fairly pointy.

For me, i like both single and double. I'm not bias towards one or the other.

I'll order one with double lugs, and then buy one with just a single, and never send it in to get "double".

I like blue studs and silver.

I really do not like the gold though:)

I much prefer double lugs on users but single lug is more aestheticly pleasing to me. It just looks more streamlined and simple, just the way I like it.

Hi I just bought small sebenza where can I get dual thumb lug done
Welcome to the tribe. To get double lugs done you need to send your Sebenza back to Idaho.

See http://www.chrisreeve.com and give them a call for a quote and directions.

If I have a choice, I prefer double lugs. And if I have a choice, they would not be blue. My recently delivered special order Small Sebenza 21 with Micarta inlays and double, sliver logs has been in my pocket pretty much every day lately and I have experienced no problems between it and my Levis pocket.

i have double lugs on my small sebenza tanto, and while I think it looks good I can't open it with my left hand. I do have large hands though

:thumbup: Yep, what he said. Poor single-luggers. How can they cope, I wonder?

Doubling down's the way to fricken go. Nothing quite like an ambidextrous knife.

Not for nothing but I find the tiny bit of additional weight that's added by the 2nd lug helps me to wrist slam my Sebenzas open............just kidding......:p :D
