Sebenza Double Thumb Studs - Any Issues?

Ya know this thread begs the question - why don't CRK folders come with double thumbstuds like 99% of the folders under the heavens?

I might be missing something - I dunno?

I've had my large Sebenza with a single lug for about a month and miss the ability to open with both hands so when I can I'll send it in for doubling up.

Well, you've got your minimalists who will insist that one is all you need. I think in actuality, it's a fear of the unknown.

The perception that perhaps double lugs could lead to dancing.

The reality is that tests have shown that double luggers are healthier, happier people who live far more productive lives.

I have gone back and forth on my opinion about single/double lugs for years.

Recently, when cutting a large salami, I had my single lug mangle some of the meat when slicing into the meat. I imagine the double lug would make slicing a large diameter object twice as mangled. It is only a small sebenza, so the large would have this be less of an issue.

I wanted a double lug retrofitted to my LE and was dissapointed when CRK said they wouldn't as it would damage the lockside scale. Today, my opinion has changed. Other than symmetry/appearance I don't see how the double lugs would improve how I use my knife.

As my knife lives in my right front pocket, I have never used my left hand to take the lnife out. As such, I always open the knife with my right hand, no need for the second lug.

It took a bit , but I'm completely satisfied having a single thumb lug only.

Double lugs are definitely not necessary, but I dig em. It is easy to open with your off hand (single lug) by using your middle finger to flick the blade halfway open... then use your thumb on the blade the rest of the way.

I actually put BM Emissary 470 studs on my small, they are the same height and same width (at the base on the blade). A good bit easier to open though, didn't really dig the pointy stud.

I don't think the double lugs will hinder you - maybe I should give it a try on a small Sebenza.
OTOH my carbon fiber scale Sebenza has a single lug only - for weight reasons.

I just weighed a single lug from CRK, it really won't even register on my digital scale. If it does register it goes to 0.2 grams.... almost nothing. If you want dual lugs on your CF, you won't see a weight penalty. Just a thought, if you were thinking of getting another.
