Sebenza EDC- Large or Small?

I EDC a regular small Sebbie. I find it flatter than the inlaid ones and it is just the right size for my hands and the blade is sized for just about any cutting task I encounter here in Los Angeles. When I go out into the "wilds" I often switch it out for my large regular Sebbie but that one is just too big for EDC.

I carried a sm reg for 5 years. then I bought a lg reg... lost it in a river... I COULD NOT go back to the sm.. its a cute toy, but not comparable to the lg. Chris carries a lg. nuff said.

For european sucking laws* is better a small one.

*Well, Spanish law considers permitted under 11cm ... but in fact a police officer always look better eyes a small one.

If you go with the small the micarta helps fill the hand. I like the large in either, with or without inlay's, but still prefer the micarta.

I've put this up before, but not sure if you've seen a side by side shot.

I don't have a Sebenza yet, but when my Regular comes in it will be a large. I fully appreciate the utility of smaller blades, but I've always liked my knives on the bigger side.

My small classic inlayed has been a great edc. I would like a large at some point but my small hasn't backed down from anything yet.
I do think that if you wear khaki or dress pants the small is a perfect size and weight BUT I also don't have a large yet to weigh that opinion against so take it with a grain of salt.

I just started carrying a small regular....:D

3" blade is perfect for what I need a knife for, and the small Sebbie carries very nice, I can hardly tell it's in my pocket:thumbup:.

I've EDC'd a small plain regular for 6 months now. she's done everything I've asked her to do... some of it pretty dirty. She's had to come apart for cleaning a couple of times after removing last year's tomato plant leftovers and putting this year's crop in, doing some light construction work around a buddy's house and our house, and then taking care of us on a trip to the ocean, but she's a tough old girl and never quits on me.

I have a pair of micarta Sebbies (large and small) and the small micarta actually feels and works a bit better for me because of the larger thumb stud cutout, but unless something happens to the small regular, I'll stick with her... too much history now to be tradin' her in.

Great responses everyone. All presented with good logic. Roughly, it looks like the small is preferred for "every day" chores about 3:1. I have about decided on a small (I think), and spotted one with great graphics that I like. I also like a plain model, possibly with micarta inserts.

Good on you. I am sure you will be happy with it

I think the small is efficient and discreet , the large is more comfortable, I use my classic large since 3 years, kitchen, factory(I'm printer), outdoor, if you prefer one for city jobs don't buy sebenza, just a spyderco, if you really want a rock, for all use take a Large Sebenza, and if you have much money, take one small and one large...

New guy here. Hi :)

I recently picked up a Large Regular Sebenza, my first CRK. No regrets over size, model, or purchase.

The small one is plenty of knife for me to EDC.

And usually if I really need a larger blade -like for camping- I'd have a 3.5 to 5 inch fixed blade.

I have a large regular that is, I admit, a safe queen. It isn't that I baby it, just that the small is perfect for me. It's enough blade for most cutting.
Also, any time I carry the large, sheeple really notice. The small is more friendly.
It IS sad that people react that way, but lets face it, that's the reality of our world.

I have a small which works for me because although the large may be more comfortable in the hand due to it's larger size, I'm usually only cutting a few items at a time so the small does the job extremely well.

I love the fact that the small seems more like a regular knife to people. I'm afraid too many people would see the large as overkill and question why I carry it. (I work in an office setting)

 Same here. The grey handle, stonewashed blade, and blue spacer and lugs make my small regular pretty sheeple friendly wherever I go. And the small *classic blade still has a longer cutting edge than most other 3" blades I have. The actual cutting edge, from heel to tip, is as long as my SnG and longer than my Sage or my Caly 3. In a 3" blade, only my 14210 is close to the same length cutting edge as the classic Sebbie and SnG.

* I edited my post after taking measurements again and discovering that I misspoke about which Sebbie I was measuring. The small regular blade has about a 2 7/8" cutting edge. The small classic has a 3" cutting edge, same as on my SnG. Sorry for any confusion :foot:

Large for yard work (twine, branches, bags of dirt/manure/etc...)

Small for everyday (cardboard, daily household use, etc...)

So, you see, you need both. And a Mnandi for the office!

What he said.
