Hi all, my sister is currently in NYC for a few weeks, and I think im almost ready to pop my crk cherry. As im doing a house move on her behalf while shes away, she has agreed to go to a shop and pick me up a knife while shes there. Shes staying with an ultra religious family who believe knives are the work of the devil, so I cannot buy online and have it shipped to her.

So my question is, is there anywhere in nyc that she could buy one? And if so, do I choose a large regular or large insingo??

Qny help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Kit

Is she in NYC proper, or is she in one of the suburbs? Only reason why I ask is because it is highly unlikely she will be able to find that anywhere in Manhattan or any of the 5 boroughs. She may be able to find it on Long Island, but it would be at an extreme premium.

Forgive my ignorance of the geography, (British and unfortunately never visited the US) but from her photos she is in what I would class as NYC proper. Think shes living in Brooklyn.

Okay, that is one of the 5 boroughs of NYC. Geographically, she is on Long Island, but is part of NYC. I can look around the area since I live less than 30 miles outside of Brooklyn in Central LI. I will let you know what I come up with and how much they would be.

No worries about the lack of geographical knowledge. As for visiting the US, I live here and I don't want to visit the US. ;)

Cheers for that mate. Ironically I live in the sh*thole that is now the UK and would much rather live your side of the pond.

I travel to NYC frequently and have looked around the city. Very limited. FYI, all knives that can be opened with one hand are illegal in NYC so that may be one reason. Anyway, Paragon Sports has an OK selection of custom knives and if I recall may have had some CRK, despite their illegality. Most are overpriced IMO. For example, they have a couple WD Pease, which he personally sells for under $600 but they have for $750. Also, the Berreta store on Madison Ave has a small selection of customs but no CRK. There is also a nice custom shop called BeautifulBlades on the East side. They have a website as does Paragon Sports. On the Paragon site you have to go to custom knives section to find the good ones. Hope that helps and please remember if you do find one in the city, don't get caught carrying it. I've heard stories of police looking for pocket clips as evidence of knife carry.

Lucky I live in nj, but my office is in the Chrysler building NYC. Pm me. I can feasibly do you a solid. You can send it to my house or office in NYC and your sister can pick it up from midtown.

Note if the package weighs an abnormal "kilogram, " has white powder spewing from it for example its getting sent right back to Cartagena... unsigned for...lol. I work for public companies and my name and listed contact info are all over multiple websites and press release sources. My parent company is in london. If that gives you some comfort. I can give you my number and you can catch me in the office all day today. Prices in NYC are outrageous and you won't get a custom folder, there might be one store which I sent the info to grateful on the forum I'll post it up here when I get in. There's one super high end Japanese specialty k I've shop but you won't find a sebenza less any knife under 600 quid. You would also have to take care of insurance and make sure that its sent in a way that it needs to be signed for so that the receiving from the building gets it. Also if sending to NYC it can't be an auto or anything like that of course.

Cheers man.

That's funny. I work across the street at 150 42nd Street (when I am actually in teh office)_

There is only one knife shop in the city and it caries high end custom fixed blades mostly. Unfortunately there is no way she can get one here.

It's a small world I wonder if I could wave my UKPK are you in the building right across with the Starbucks downstairs?

Yep, I am up on the 11th floor, when I am in the office. Fortunately, I telecommute most of the time.

Nice to see there are still fellow knifenuts in NYC!

Paragon sports might have a sebenza, last time I was there they had a Darrel Ralph DDR maybe give them a call?

We should meet up for a coffee one of these days at Starbucks. You show me your EDC, I'll show you mine!

As long as my wife doesn't find out. ;) I will be coming into the office on 24 July for a quick meeting, so let me know when you are around.

What someone else mentioned above. Have her order one and get it sent to someone who can receive it. Maybe even get one on the exchange and have them send it to her.

NYC is one of the worst places to buy a knife unless you're a high-end collector. And if you do find a Sebenza in a store, you're going to be paying about $40 in tax on top of it.

Also if you need to ship it I'm in tarryrown, it's a 25 min train ride and you can have it shipped there and ill meet your sister and give her it in a box, I never carry my good knives and only carry a sak that doesn't lock because nypd will take anything from ya
