Thanks for all of the input.

I went ahead and got one and so far, it is worth what I paid. I am very impressed with the craftsmanship and the "feel" of the knife. I'll have to carry it for a while and put it to some good use to make my final judgement.

But for now; damn it looks good.:D

Welcome to the "We paid too much for a 'production' knife but we're still damned happy club". :D

Come back to the thread point, I have a small trapeze sebenza and a bradley alias 1 fizzed by cucchiara. I love both.
Nevertheless, I think sebenzas are way too expensive. The bradley has a solid framelock too (but I doubt you throw this sort of knives, or try to stab something with it ; the question of the solidity of the frame is ridiculous), same materials, and is smoother and easier to open and close than the large sebies I tried, tip-up or tip down carry. It fits better in the hand too. But It's true It doesn't have the class of a sebie (my bradley alias fizzed is very "bling bling").
I really don't think that the alias is a cheaper copy of the sebie (there is many industrial knives with frame lock and S30v). It doesn't have the same handle and blade shape.
I tried the buck/mayo 172 too and that's a beauty too, cheaper than a sebie and an alias.
When you buy a CRK, you buy the quality, the name and the service too. But every trades do the same (you can refurbish your knife in every company I know).
Now, it's my opinion, and I would love to own a large inlay sebenza:jerkit: .

When I got my first, a large regular Sebenza, I was impressed. I had never held one, but had read all of the “hype.” However, I wasn’t really blown away, until I took it apart. Now, every time I open or close it, I enjoy the feel of the precession fit that needs no adjustment. Once it’s broken-in, it’s just so smooth.
Take one apart and I promise you’ll be impressed.
Is that worth it?
It is to me!

Plain Jane but oh so good looking! Enjoy it!

I love the look of the plane ti. It doesn’t look right until it starts to get some pocket wear, around the edges, though. Kinda like new leather looks better when it gets wrinkles. The only thing that would look better, in my opinion, is some rough micarta inserts, and pocket wear on the edges. That would look even better. Dam*it, made me want another one.

The semi-custom price is due to CRK requiring their dealers to stick to the MSRP.
Since CRKs are semi-custom quality, the price is not out of line, but the cost-value ratio is definitely and by definition not competitive. My Bump is semi-custom quality and has a lot of plusses my CRKs don't, but retailed for nearly half the money.
Still, if you have the money, consider going wood inlay, which is not so much more in the Classic design, you'll semi-customize it through your choice of wood, and you'll get great mirror polish as well.

I would say no from a useful standpoint buy yes from a quality one. My USP is probably not worth the cost either. I could have bought a glock instead and it would have worked just as well, but it isn't as nicely finished. That is my humble comparison.
