ok so i'm a newbie here, been reviewing threads for quite a while.. which helped me decide on a ritter grip (which i carry when i go on hikes, camping).. and my calypso jr (which is almost an edc for me)..

so i've finally decided to drop the money for a sebenza, i've always loved it.

i'm torn between the large and small.. i probably wouldnt use it everyday either, but i was wondering.. has anyone else faced the dilemma of choosing between large and small? if so what did you go with and why? any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated :) thanks!

thanks for the reply.. i have medium size hands, and my gut instinct at first was the large. maybe i should see and handle both firsthand to make a decision.. only problem is, most outdoors, hunting, firearm shops around me dont have sebenzas in their display box :(

I can take a pic of a Small Sebbie and a Griptillian if you like to see the size, I dont have any large left in stock.

I like big folders, so to me there was no decision to make.

I still want a small one, though, as I do like smaller knives (just not as much).

Ì think you should go with the large.
You can't go wrong with that one....,and you'll eventually buy a small any how!

Make sure the large is legal for you to carry before you even consider it.

The Small Sebenza and the Calypso Jr are very similar size-wise, although the Caly will probably fit the hand much better, because of finger choil. If you find that you want a larger blade than the Caly, go with the Large. My hands aren't large (medium I guess), but 3" blade knives are usually a bit small for me to use as a regular folder (Spydercos like the Calypso Jr. or the Kopa are the exceptions, with their ergonomic choils).

Its funny.. my edc was a calypso when I bought my large seb. The day I got it I found it to be BIG.. but after a while it didn't seem very big anymore. The large seb shrinks on ya. For me .. if I got the small I'd always think I shouldda gotten the large so go with the man-size large

Here's the most important advice I can give you: buy a used Sebbie on the exchange forum. That way, of you decide you'd rather have the other size, you can re-sell it and most likely get all of your money out of it.

I have the large and small, and carry the small more. CR said
that the small would handle 90% of your cutting jobs, and I agree. You will probably want both!:p

Listen to his sage advice!! He IS right you know!

I prefer smaller knives--I don't encounter things my small sebbie won't cut that the large would. My hands are medium large with narrow fingers and the small fits just right. I feel no need for anything larger.

Consider the cutting tasks you regularly encounter, and whether the larger blade would be an advantage. If not, the small will really disappear in your pocket.

I have both. The large gets more carry time. It's really not all that "large" and is easy to carry. It's a very personal thing. Good luck with your choice.:)

I EDC'd a small Seb for a year, then bought a large LE. I've never owned a folder as large as the large Seb and at first it seemed big to me also. But after a couple of weeks, it seemed to shrink and I've noticed how it really fits my hand perfectly and now I don't want or need to carry anything else.

Just got a large stars and stripes. My EDC's are usually around 3" blades, so a first it seemed big, but with the smooth lines slim profile and low riding clip, it carries great.

I have the small.
Bought it for real EDC, urban use. The size is more sheep friendly.
I'm planning to buy the large, thou.

Just another point: Classic or Regular ??? ;)

I think the small is generally easier to carry and more useful. It also seems to be easier to control the blade for more precision work than its bigger brother.

Just my opinion but the small Sebbie seems to sell better and faster on the used market also.

For the price difference, i will go for te large : not too big and really, realy universal...: one of the best knife, if not the best (fixed and folder included...) i own for Fit and Finish quality...
