Sebenza or 3 quality knives?

So, have you decided yet sub40man?? Did you get a Sebbie? Or did you get the Benchmade knives?

Actually, I already have 3 BM's. I was wondering if I should have been more patient and waited? However, I only purchased 2 and the other was a gift. It is hard for me to come up with that much cash at one time and did not want to charge so much for a pocket knife, albeit a superb one. If I ever actually had the opportunity to see and handle one in person, it might be a different story. The best knife shop near me is 45 min. and they don't carry CRK's. They sell BM, Spydie, Microtech and William Henry. I was in there last week and they were really pushing the WH. They are very expensive but also seem like top quality knives.

I think it really depends on what kind of use you put your knife to also. I have some benchmades, a spyderco, and a sebenza that I carry daily. The knife that I use the most though is my Benchmade 707. I have to wear thick leather gloves at work to protect my hands, and I use a knife fairly often. It's too hard to open and close liner or frame locks when wearing gloves, so I use a axis lock. Benchmades hold up very well to hard use, and the axis lock is an excellent open/close mechanism. Sebenza's are personally my favorite folders and I carry mine every day when I'm not at work, but for certain uses, other folders work better for me. Plus if I were to loose my benchmade at work, I'd be bummed, but not devastated as I'd be if I lost my sebbie. There's no arguement that the Sebenza is a much superior knife. It's the difference between a Corvette and a Enzo. My 2 favorite folders are CRK and Benchmade because of the excellent products and the customer service/warranty to match. You can't go wrong with either one. It's all in what you need. If I had to choose just ONE of my knives for edc it would have to be my sebbie all the way.

I love my sebenza its the greatest knife I own for EDC. I love the fact that they make a VERY VERY nice leather belt sheath made FOR the Sebenza. Even if you cant afford the Sebenza buy one and a belt sheath anyway and you have a companion through thick and thin for the rest of your life.

Now that I'm retired from the Army, I carry my Sebenza sometimes, and a couple of others occasionally. ...but when I was on active duty, my Sebenza was the only folder I carried because it was the only one I've found I'd trust my life to. It wasn't a toy to play with or admire, it was a tool and like the other tools I was entrusted with, it had to work.

Go ahead and enjoy your Benchmade knives. A Chris Reeve Sebenza will be there when you are ready to reach the next level...

I am one one the few whom were not impressed with the classic Sebenza.
However, I did like the regular Sebenza (but I like the small regular better :D ) If I could get a customized (A Halloween scene) graffic one however, that might be "the one!"

samhain73: You oughta call CRK and see if they can do a Halloween graphic for you!!

I had an aviation themed Lg. Sebenza (airplane flying over mountians) that was stunning in design and F&F. I'd like to buy it back if any of you guys happen to own it now. I had to sell it a few years ago and reget it to no end!

Was that the airborne knife? parachutes on the way to the ground as the plane fly's away? That one I have seen!

The only reason people don't like sebenzas are because they have butterfingers and can't think that its better to push forward the thumb stud instead of pushing outwards.
Otherwise after the breaking period and proper greasing the knife is flawless. I would like to handle more high end production knives such as the Bradly Alias to see if Seb are better.

Just traded 3 Microtechs for a small Meteor Seb. That is my second one. Number three is coming next week. That should answer your question.:D

I have bought other knives like Emerson,Microtech and others before I bought my Sebenza. I like all the knives I have very much. I will now, however buy mostly CRKs and Dozier Knives with others of interest sprinkled here and there. You just have to experience the Sebby in person. It can be described to you but personal experience is King!
