sebenza or umnumzaan as "user"

i think the sebenza 25 will help make your choice
nope it does not...... the umnumzaan sill has things about it that i like that the sebenza 25 does not offer.

If You haven't made your purchase as of yet, I vote Sebenza.
My reason, I have them both and do find myself carrying both at times, but when cutting heavier things such as rope and cardboard as you stated I always reach for my sebenza because it is serrated! Not an option on the Zaan.

The serrations really cut down on the need to sharpen and just makes for a better day edc in my mind. Sure the straight looks prettier but if you are using this knife and not just looking at it and drooling, IMO I vote for serrated Sebbie every time.

If Zaan is the way you want to go check the authorized retailers in CA and you may find one on a website there. Good luck

I have a Umnum and a large regular. I always use the Umnum and I have never used the regular but I do think the large regular Sabenza is a beefier knife.

Sebenza. I never warmed to the Umnumzaan though, so my advice may not help you at all, lol.

Just use the one YOU like the best.

Just got my Umnumzaan last week and im liking it alot over the large 21 for EDC. It feels a bit more rugged to me and I love the smooth lock up. I would say the Umnumzaan and small 21 are a perfect combo.

Okay, let me throw this at you. I am a long term user of several other popular brands that I can't talk about here. I enjoy (and am used to) handling those knives (open/close) quickly, easily, with one hand. Yes, you should be easily able to manage this with the Sebbie.
However, I must use two hands to close my Umnumzaan, and quite a few folks here have stated the same thing. That may not be a deciding factor...but it is a factor.
With all that being said, I still bought and prefer the blade-shape of the Umnumzaan and have a lesser interest in the Sebbie. Personal opinion, obviously.

I don't understand where the problems manipulating the Umnumzaan comes from ? As far as I can tell it's just the same as the Sebenza, I open and close both the same way....

I have carried the Umnumzaan and the Regular Sebenza for a while and IMO the Umnumzaan is more of a do it all knife than the Sebenza. The Sebenza feels like more of a slicer and dicer with the slightly thinner blade while the Umnumzaan feels like a more substantial all round user. The ergos are very similar but the Umnumzaan is slightly slimmer in the hand and IMO feel more nimble than the the Sebenza but both are very useable indeed, that's why I use both. :p
