Sebenza or xm 18 bowie

I should have qualified better. Im a light infantryman in the guard so use with gloves is probably a big concern for me are the Hinderers not IKBS??

Fletch!!! You've been here long enough to know......pics!!! Or we won't believe you!!!

Congrats. As an owner of multiples of both, there was no wrong choice. If I had happened in before you chose, I would have suggested the Slysz Bowie by Spyderco, as I find it near perfect.

The problem is my lgs has a fatty harpoon tanto is stock also, but I think the next one may be a wharncliffe.

I owned a Sebenza before an XM-18. But I carry an XM-18 far more often. Love the size & ergos (and I feel the Hinderer clip design is the best in the business). Both are built to last, though the Hinderer just seems a bit more robust. I don't really understand the washer complaints. Teflon doesn't care if you run wet or dry, and doesn't collect pocket stuff like bearings can. If you like to customize, Hinderer leads in this area for sure. Good luck!

xm but spear point. xm is more practical considering many methods to deploy

For edc - Sebenza
For mall ninja missions - XM-18 bowie

For "mall-ninja missions" like opening the mail and getting into crannies when carving wooden bowls, the Bowie blade on my XM-18 has been quite handy. ;)
It was also handy in the woods when I got a splinter...splinters ruin your relaxation, I find.

It also carries as easily as every other knife in that size range.

Why can't people like something different without making it an "us versus them" thing?
We all like knives here to an extent that makes the rest of the world think we're stupid.
They won't think any higher of you than me based on the type of ridiculously expensive knife you prefer. ;)

Sebenza 25 all the way.

Both are great knives, and you can't go wrong with either one. You WILL end up with both, eventually.

I'm a Sebenza guy too. The Hinderer is too bulky and way overbuilt for anything I'd use a folder on. Does it look cool, yeah! But I've come to appreciate pocket real estate. I'm also a fan of blade to handle ratio, more blade, less handle. Less is more. If you want slimmer carry, go with a 21, if you want a beefier yet still compact package, go 25/Zann/ Inkosi.

Also keep in mind there are many other companies out there less known that are making amazing knives for the same prices. No need to get stuck in just the Strider/CRK/Hinderer camps.

First and foremost, its personal taste.
Both are of excellent quality, will last you a lifetime, and will cut nearly anything you throw at them.
Lots of threads here try to answer/discuss wich is the better knife.... I aint gonna mix in that discussion, because they are both of excellent quality.
You cant go wrong on either on that perspective
Personally, lm a Reeve guy. Nothing beats the sleek, no nonsense funtional en very pretty design in my eyes. Resulting in a precisionbuilt, supertightly toleranced and beautiful piece of work.
As for the Hinderer... I simply dont like the looks of it.
Mostly people look weird at me when l use my inkosi, Ti-Lock small or large sebenza.
Whipping out an overbuilt, tactical-looking knife will cause heartattacks in my surroundings....

On another personal note.... Of all the sebenzas l've owned over the years, the inkosi(small) and the 25 would be my keepers.
They to me, are the best of the bunchs
Havent handled the large Inkosi yet, since they are hard to come by in Europe....:-(

Between the two, a sebenza. Hinderers just don't appeal to me, and in truth, the sebenza wasn't the bees knees either.

I found a happy medium in the Three Sisters Forge Beast.
