Sebenza owners.. what fixed blade do you carry??

I usually do not wear any type of fixed blade, but over the past couple of weeks I've taken a shine to my Entrek Cobra, 4.0" X .187" blade & 4.5" black canvas micarta handle, with it's hi-ride kydex sheath that tucks the knife just over my right hip and then allows it to lay flat against my side with only an inch or less of the sheath hanging below my belt. With a jacket or sweat shirt on, this knife is invisible with no outline of it showing. It does require a high draw, but the sheath will move out and away from my body for a fairly decent draw. The thing I like is how I forget I'm even carrying a fixed blade, whether I'm walking, sitting, or squatting. It is also very comfortable when driving for a longer distance that around town.

I carry a Bark River North Star or Canadian Special most often. I recently acquired a Ray Laconico knife that will be part of the rotation, too.

My Carbon V blades now nearing the 20 year old mark are still going strong! I've tried all the others, many of those mentioned here and then some, but those older Carbon V's still work their magic and hence I traded out the others.

Just take a Fallkniven A1.....It's the best quality laminated V10 blade and veryyyy sturdy. Also very good priced knife. Read some review about it!

The only fixed I currently own is a Spyderco Mule, so I guess that would be the one I would carry:D

Looks like so far "in the running" in order of potential are:

RAT RC-3
CRK Mountaineer I
Strider MFS

Like I said.. practical tactical.. which I guess could be leaning to one side or the other, neither or both! I guess I'm looking for right in the middle without being neither! I'm definately not wanting to go traditional at all.. and no rubber parts.. I dont like the idea of a rubber handle at all.. I really like G10 best of all..

Here are a couple I EDC with or without the Sebbie:

DANG KeithAM.. that seb has seen some use! GREAT pic! ...thouse Barkies DO look tempting..

It's definitely been used.

I reprofiled it as soon as I got my Edge Pro -- without practicing on cheaper knives first. :o Still, it cuts a lot better now.

The Barkies are wonderful.

For the last couple of years (since Wilma) the fixed EDC is an older Busse Straight Handled Badger Attack. This was my 'get out of the truck if it goes into a canal' knife. Lots of canals in S Fl and lots of drownings.

Recently moved to SC and not too many canals, plus, I'm still not sure of my (FL), CCW in regards to concealed FB, and don't want to use the Busse as a test. So it's staying at home for the moment.

My Lg Classic Mayonized has been on my belt throughout. It seems like EVERYONE up here has at least a folder on them. The Sebbie has never raised an eyebrow. Compliments perhaps, but that was about it. Actually, I've gotten more comments about the belt sheath MtMike made for me than the knife itself:D Till they ask what the knife cost:D:D

Both have been going strong for over 4 years.

I've been finding myself EDCing my CRKT ABC more frequently these days; granted, it does tend to scream 'mall ninja,' but it's still so damned useful, even in the city. Plus it has the speed and sturdiness of a fixed blade, which is pleasant for someone accustomed to folders.

PS - KeithAM, what angle do you grind your Sebbie at, and do you find it effective? It looks close to 17 degrees or so; much steeper than you usually see in a Sebenza.

10 degrees per side. I maintain the edge with a Spyderco Sharpmaker using the 30 degree setting and ultrafine rods, followed by stropping on a Chromium Oxide charged leather strop. It performs very well for me.

My regular carry is the small Sebie, hence the back ups. I almost never carry a fixed blade but if I did, I think I'd use a vintage Pal. It was kind of a poor mans Randall. These are about 50 years old and have had a lot of abuse, but still funtion well. Take a great edge.

well I finally chose a Swamp Rat Knife Works "Swamp Warden" ...actually I WOULD have bought the Strider MFS that sold on evilbay today had I NOT missed it by 9 mins. ...I decided WTF? and just bid $101 on the Swamp Warden. ... Now I'm looking for a kydex engineer who already has one to make some pants for! Review to follow!!
