Check this out. Went into the movie theater and it was fine. Noticed this as I was leaving, checking to make sure my small Seb was where it should be. Glad I looked. Anyone else ever run into this? Best I can tell is the clip caught on the armrest as I was sitting down.

I was able to remove the clip and hold the end with the screw hole with pliers then bend it back. Put it back on and it's good to go. Anyone know if bending it back will weaken it too much?

Ti is rather elastic, which is why it is used so often in lock bars. How many times have you unlocked the blade on your sebenza, more than once?
I have bent my clip at least four times, granted not as bad as yours but I digress, you're fine.

I would take this opportunity to pick up a spare clip so you will have some peace of mind. Go on the crk site and bite the bullet and grab a hawk clip (from a Ti Lock) and enjoy the added security.

It bites tighter and you press the top of it to "release", or ease the grip of it.

Edit to change donor knife name, it is from a Ti Lock, not Mnandi.

No, it will not weaken it too much. Most clips are cold formed and reshaping them will not hurt the strength of it.

And yes, I've bent clips before.:grumpy:

Glad you didn't lose the Sebenza. I bet you had a little panic attack when you realized what happened.

I have caught my small sebenza clip on a few things over the years. I found bending the very end of clip down a little bit cut down on the snagging.

ive bent cheap knife clips back many times so i would think that a high end one would be fine. does it FEEL and weaker/less stiff if not its fine if only a little its fine. it takes a lot of bending back and forth and farther than that to tear metals and to really cause trouble

The same thing happened to. I did the same thing. That was four or five years ago, no problems since.

Any pics with the mnandi clip installed.. That clip looks nice.

To OP.
I usually swing the clip back on the opposite way so I can bend it back correctly, then reinstall correctly. It will be harder on sebenza as the hole is in a oval cutout but looks possible still. Another words, take clip off and have it installed with clip hanging off the knife instead of down the lock bar. This way you wont ding up the clip and most likely be able to restore it back to original position.

You are fine. There is nothing wrong with the clip. I have bent the clip exactly like you did on every sebenza I have owned.

In fact I just bent the clip on my large Insingo 2 weeks ago. It was worse than yours. It got caught on a metal table at work as I was walking by.

Just do as you did, remove the clip and bend it back.

When I had a small Sebenza I would bend the clip all the time. Anytime it would catch the arm of a chair it would either bend, pull out of my pocket or do both. Any of the large Sebenzas I have had have never done this.

That's good advice.

Op
I've only bent mine once bout a year ago little more than you did yours. Bent it back and it's been good.

I might bend my tab down a bit. Thx for the advice Hoosier
