so I have this sebenza that I'v had about a month now and when I open or close the blade a schratching sound appears, dont know if its normal or not. The sound is pretty loud and sounds like metal scratching on metal(as you can hear in the video).
when I hold the lockbar so that it doesn't contact the blade the is no sound and the action is really as perfect as I could pretty much ask for, so maybe the ball on the lockbar isn't rolling???
I don't have really lot of experience with framelocks but the sound is like 3 or 4 times louder then with my spyderco military
Has anyone had this proplem? any way to fix it myself or should I send it in for repair?

I'm pretty sure if you just take the knife apart and clean it, the problem will go away. You don't need to take the whole knife apart, just remove the pivot screw and slide the blade assembly out. Clean and lube all of the parts, put the knife back together, and you should be good to go!

There's probably just a piece of grit caught underneath one of the washers.

The detent ball dosnt actually roll, it slides over the blade. You probably just have some gunk in there thats making it sound a bit rough.

I opened it up and cleaned and lubed it:) but PROBLEM NOT SOLVED:confused: it still makes pretty annoying sound, its better than what it sounded in the latest video but still pretty NOT GOOD.
When the lockbar doesn't touch the blade its fine, but when the lockbar contacts the blade the scratching sound appears

take a pencil and rub some lead where the fram lock hits the blade

Sounds to me like titanium on stainless. Is one of the washers missing by any chance?

Take it all apart and sand everything with some 1000 grit emery cloth.

Or you could just sent it back.

open close under warm/hot water, wash well with liquid soap, and clean with a soft toothbrush/soap the pivot area, dry it and try again

If your talking about the sound it makes on your video just before the high pitch tone. That is the ceramic ball against the blade. Mine does it to. It is not a titanium ball detente like many others using a titanium lock. Only help I can give.

Are there any marks on the blade where the detent ball runs?

Is the detent ball correctly in place?

Is the blade centered when in closed position?

What condition are the copper washers in (not bent or unevenly worn)?

Finally is the lock bar square with the rest of the knife or is slighly bent out of shape?

I cannot think of anything else that would make that noise, but I can say it should not be doing it. Might be time for a warranty trip to CRK!!!!

I highly advise against this! No offense Josh, but I did the same to my washers when I thought I could make the action smoother, but ended up with play side to side in my Seb.

I called CRK, and they told me that every set of washers are individually sanded to fit in every knife.

In short, I found out that when they say "Dont polish the washers" it turns out they know what they are talking about.

Send your knife in, and they will make it right....... It only takes about a week from sending the knife to receiving it back in your hands.

:foot: I don't normally have any problems with sanding everything. I guess the tolerances they have make it impossible.

I had the same problem and it had to be sent in. Contact Chris Reeve Knives, they'll make it right.
