Sebenza & sand... sand & Sebenza

T.K.C.---The Mission MPF is my "No Worry", knife. I like it for what it is. You, no doubt, did not like yours. :)
mete---That's scary stuff! Sand AND Oil!!!

Lycosa: I actually LOVED mine. BUT, another knife was calling, and so it went to a new home.

I DO have a custom knife that is my beach knife; it won't rust. I can swim with it.

We REALLY need to get back ON TOPIC!

It IS good to know that I CAN take my Sebbie to the beach. I honestly have never thought of doing that. It is good to know that I CAN.

I've been cutting through many bags of potting soil and the seb just stays nice and smooth even after being completely covered in soil.

I know this is an old thread but I've been searching for a folder that will do me well in the sand. I recently changed my position in plumbing to full time rough in so I spend the majority of the day in dirt and sand, on the Gulf coast. First is carried my usual Spyderco Military but being tip down and nearly an inch of handle sticking out of my pocket makes for a very gritty action by lunch time. The past week I've been carrying an m390 mini grip that needed a full take apart cleaning which is not fun with an axis lock. Tomorrow I'll give the large lefty Sebenza a week of rough in and see how it goes.

I have a Spyderco Salt 1 for use in and around salt water. Usually there's a lot of sand involved. Never had any issues with it. I clip it to my BC vest when diving, my shorts when snorkling. My biggest worry is that I'm going to leave it behind in some rented gear, but better a $50 knife than a $400 one.

Welcome back after my short holidays! Well, Sebenza has been my "beach EDC" for last couple of days (served as a fruit knife, whittler, etc). I was very surprised (in a VERY positive way) that Sebenza's fit is so close, that beach sand was not able to get between blade/handle/washers! All I needed was a short rinse in water in the afternoon and the knife was as smooth as it should. Another reason why Sebenza is above other folders. Try it with Axis ;)

I really dig this photo.
