Sebenza Scales... polished to a satin finish?

Like lemmuhj I too enjoy all sorts of finishes, including factory, on the Ti scale. I've sent several knives to CRK with these types of finishes and have never had an issue with warranty.

Here are two examples I did with a combo of wet/dry and scotchbright.

I really like how this one turned out :thumbup:

Got my Sebbie's scales back from Gunsmoke today after he gave them a stonewashing treatment.

All I can say is..... WOW!!!

I thought I loved my Insingo before, but this finish on the scales makes me love it even more! After a week without this in my pocket I actually said "ahhhhhhh" as I slid it into my pocket.

Don't have time for pictures right now because I'm getting ready to get on a plane to Arizona. I'll try and take some pictures of it with the red rocks of Sedona or the cactus of Tucson.

Thanks again Gun for the work.

Would love to see some pics!

I can't wait to see the pics. He made me the same generous offer in this thread, and I'm going to take him up. I bought a large that someone scotchbrited and when I first held it I loved it, but when I used it my opinion changed fast. It would slip around in my hand and it fell out of my pocket a couple of times. Off it goes for the treatment!

I like almost all finishes on a Sebenza, but taking sand paper/scotch brite pads to a new finish just does it for me

Hello Lemmuhj&Peppercorn, I cannot understand by the pics if the titanium finished by you is mirrored (like a chromed plate) or is it a more beautiful opaque finish?
Which scotch Brite exactly have you used? I now for sure 3M scotch brite comes in 4 grade from coarse to superfine (and maybe ultrafine); I'd like to have a nice smooth finish, no microscratches, but not mirrored.

I often use a green Scotch pad on Ti but it's worth taking the Ti scale on a Sebenza to a 600 grit satin to clean up the blasted finish first IMO. I don't like that forced wear look with the polished edge and dirty looking flats, I much prefer a uniform satin over the whole scale.

As the pad is soft, you are always going to get an uneven finish if you rub the scale along the length of the pad. If you want the finish to be uniform, you can evenly apply the pressure to the scale, but using paper is easier for sure.

CRK sand blasts the scales. Bead blasting smooths them out nicely, and that tumbled finish looks fantastic. If you want them bead blasted PM me or drop me a email an I can do them free of charge, i've done a few for people here and they really liked them.

Is this offer still open? How do you bead blast the scales?

Did this to my large tonight. Love it!
