Sebenza & Sharpmaker help

Hi guys, I've got a small Sebenza and Sharpmaker combo (thanks to these forums on both items, heh). I've been really happy with the barrage of CRK referrals, not being disappointed. Same goes for the Sharpmaker. All the knives in our home are awesomely sharp.

I've been pretty quick to get a good edge on the Sebenza sans the front part, the last half inch or so where the blade curves. Has anyone else has this problem with this knife or anything else with a similar blade shape? If so, how can I improve?

follow the curvature of the blade as you move down the sharpmaker. tilt your hand down as the blade curves so that the face of the cutting edge is always pointed down.
 
Freedoom is right, in order for the sharpmaker to be fully effective, the edge must be perpendicular to the stone throughout the process. Raising your wrist, or bending your hand in a downward fashion should produce better results. I usually have to stand to make it happen with my Umnum.
 
You probably already know this, but I'll say it anyway: keep in mind that the Sharpmaker sets a flat bevel, and the Sebenzas (to my knowledge; I don't actually own one) have convex edges. Which means to really sharpen the Sebenza, you need to grind out the belly of that convex until you are dealing with a nice, flat bevel. That takes a bit of time the first time you sharpen a Sebenza.
