So we can get feedback. I don't want you to just send me pix in email. I'd like to hear public opinion. Please work on posting quality pix, I'll be coming back to this thread to check.

Thank you,

Cliff aka soon to be Sebenza owner

Let me try this... just a small theory… oh, and please, don’t take it personally. I believe, that in any modification to Sebenza, the term “pretty good deal” is at least not appropriate. Personally, I’d never look for a deal, but rather for the outstanding quality, style, craftsmanship, aesthetics, etc. Most probably that’s why we so rarely (never?) see posts like “here is the deal, Sebenza mod’s starting at $40” without any good photo reference. Rather than that we usually see here nice pictures of very good to awesome Sebenza modifications without any suggestion what the cost was. Sebenza is very special knife IMHO. Quality-wise incomparable to other folders produced today, expensive, and of course hard working. It’s usually very very personal piece. So the cost alone is not the first factor here for sure. Bottom line… show us the pic’s :D

Hey Piter,
I heard you also do some Sebenza customizing......,is that true and what do you charge?

Raoul...

(Still waiting on the price for the Ubejane...;))

Some say so...

well, from time to time yes, I do. Or rather used to do, before my sweet little Marry. These days it all depends buddy, she's my real boss :p

Patriot24,
A word to the wise...
This forum is also hosted by Anne Reeve. Have you spoken to her about your intensions? In otherwords, do you have her permission to solicit work out of this subforum?

There are guys here that like to mod their knives for their own enjoyment. I have no problem with that, as I am one of them, but it seems to me that you are trying to up the ante and claim something that maybe is not there to be claimed.

Barry H

What happened? I'm checking back twice a day. Maybe a watched pot never boils. I'm checking back in 1 month.

So Piter M and Barry H I see that you guys, more than obviously so, are still doing mods, both of you do great work I must say. I have asked a couple of members to help me post pics and soon as one of them has the time to I'm sure they will.

Piter and Barry H, let me try this. I understand you feel passionately about the Sebenza...but I'm not sure what urges you to see the pics so badly. Let me ask you this... what does being a good deal have to do w/the quality of ones work. Does saying its a good deal automatically make it sub par work? I'm not sure why you mention this, when we all constantly praise the Sebenza for its level of quality and craftmanship and at the sale price is also such a "great deal", bc it is. I'm sure that you agree that something being a good deal can still be great work. Who knows, maybe its just a coincidence...but it just struck me kinda funny that the two strongest responses were from two individuals who like to do mods in exchange for money themselves, but I'm sure that its just a mere coincidence. I was just kinda thrown off that you love the knife as much as you do Piter...then why you were not happy that another person out there might be able to modify it for his friends so that they like the color or a different aspect a little more.

I said it was a good deal bc it is, especially considering some charge up to $100 just to put a torch to a piece of Ti! Do the math out with time used and you're making more than a doctor or lawyer per hour! No wonder why some of the guys who do mods want all to think heat coloring is such a hard or scientific thing, when we know anybody w/a torch from Home Depot and 20 mins to spare can do a great job with a little practice.

Look guys, I'm not questioning either one of your work or morals. I know for a fact both of you do gret work and in fact Barry your textured Sebenza is one of the coolest I have EVER seen! And Piter I remember the zippo you did awhile that was very nice. I'm just offering simple mods to those who are interested, simple as that.

I'm greatly interested. I just need to see what I'm buying before I buy. That's why the great interest in pix. Need to see what my hard earned cash is buying.

no problem, what is your email address, I'll get a pic to you later on today if thats ok w/you sir?

What I have issue with is that you are openly soliciting work here on BladeForums on Anne Reeves forum that Reeve Knives pays for. Bad move, dude. Listen, if you want to open business for yourself doing Sebenzas mods, fine. Pony up, contact Spark and get your own subforum.

Don't be a troll and use this forum for free advertising.

Caveat emptor.

BH.

Barry H, I understand your point, but if we look back in time other people have done and offered sebenza mods on the forum, perhaps with a little more sublety.

Other's have mentioned the work they do, sc_rebel1957, STR, etc on other forums. I don't really see how this is any different. In fact I'd argue that the appearance of after market mods, either done for themselves or for hire, actually serves to increase the interest and community related to CRK knives.

If I was Anne or Chris, I'd support the modders.

The problem that I see is that he is soliciting his work to gain a profit which is considered SPAM and those that do so wind up getting banned.

Not that I care either way, if that rules going to be followed hard and fast, there's at least another two regular posters who qualify for a ban ... why no mention of this to them :D

I feel that a person who comes on with a low post count in a new forum is jumped on and beat up. If that's proven to be the case here, you can count me as history.

I'll be watching this keenly

I come back to the idea is it's all in the presentation.

For example, if someone says "look what I did to my knife", and alot of people say cool, and some email and say can you do mine, and they say sure, for $80, then that's OK because it's "subtle".

But if someone comes on and says I can do this for $80, then that's NOT subtle, but ultimately, doing work for a fee, it's the same thing.

So I'd suggest to patriot, just post some pix, and let people contact him.

And if you're going to start banning people for spamming in the manner of patriot, then there's quite a few more that need banned, IMO.
