I feel that a person who comes on with a low post count in a new forum is jumped on and beat up. If that's proven to be the case here, you can count me as history.

The difference between patriot and the other's is that they did not post a price when they showed off their mods. He made a post specifically to solicit business. The other's show off their mods and make no mention of cost. What people do off the forum is none of our business. If they want to contact the modder via email then that's all well and good but when a new member comes to BFC to expressly solicit the members of this forum it is going against the rules set forth by Spark. Yes, it is a fine line but a line nonetheless.

We are not beating up patriot. He has failed to read and follow the rules of the forum and we are simply letting him know about it. If you can not clearly see the difference then you need to open your eyes and reread patriots initial post...he is offering his services for a fee. That is the difference between him and the others.

A fine line indeed, Ken.

I understand fully that posts needs to be policed when there is a clear intent of sales. But, a child of five would know that there are a fair few posts which are sales, although, as you point out money is not mentioned.

Patriot24 is indeed openly offering to sell a service and as such clearly has broken the rules.

I just didn't fancy seeing yet another thread where it goes to flames, and this one was heading that route :) If he has made a mistake and needs reminded, so be it. But it doesn't take several aftershots from others to remind him of it.

No harm done, sir :D

Mark.

I think it does because he has yet to respond or edit his thread accordingly and hasn't even shown pics of his work that he considers a great deal. I expect a Super to enter this thread shortly and set things straight. I have done what I can.

Sorry, advertising is not allowed on this forum. If you get a Knifemaker Membership you can advertise in the appropriate forum -- click on "Upgrade your forums experience, and help support this site" at the top of this page for details.

You might also find that people are not inclined to send you knives and money until they find out who you are....

... edit.

I've almost said one word too much. Let's keep the CRK forum as clean as possible.

BTW Patriot, glad you like my Zippos. However, these were not for sale, only gifts for my friends in US. OK, one has been auctionned for a good cause too...

Guys....I do not wish to break or rules or offend anyone, so let me take this chance to apologize if I have done so. I was under the impression that I would bring more interest not take anything from Mr. and Mrs Reeve. But if I have broken a forum rule in the process I do apologize.

I hold no bad feelings towards you and consider it an honest mistake.

How about starting a new thread in the "Toolshed" forum (under General) and show off some of the work that you have done? There are lots of people that would like to see it, including me, and that would be a good place to show it off.

That is a good idea, at the moment I'm stuck trying to find a decent camera to take pics with but I'm still not good at posting. What I'm probably going to have to do is mail an actual piece of work to a trustworthy member on here who wouldnt mind taking pics and posting them for me.

Wow, now that's trust! :)
