Sebenza surprised me

S35 in my use is an excellent steel, I have never had any room to complain about it on any knife. But I agree with the above post, there will always be arguments and debates about steels!

In CRK knives, I have S35, S30, and Devon Thomas damascus. In daily usage, I hardly notice a difference. They all take a good edge, hold it well, and are easy to sharpen. I'm sure the same can be said for the other steels that have been used in crk folders.

I will say that the factory edge was not impressive out of the box.

It wedges in cardboard, after removing considerable shoulder it melts into cardboard.
I wouldn't say easiest to sharpen either, the thumbstud is in a very annoying position. Mnandi, now that's easy (no stud)

I have never had a problem with my 25 (or 21 insingo before it). I think a lot of the talk about heat treat was due to one or two YT videos and rope tests. Some of it comes from people that expected more than the performance than they got but I guess most if it was due to the YT videos.

Most of the people I talked with that had HT issues hadn't even seen those videos. I as well as others came up with our conclusions based on our own experiences with this steel and others. I'm actually really fond of S35. Now it's the only steel I have in folders.... primarily because all my other folders have been pawned/sold in place of crks.

On a side note, that is a Starbenza in the OP. Some came with single studs, I believe most new come with double though. Both my large and small came with duals.

Hey HwangJino, i can say the same about my 25 that i got a couple weeks ago. The edge did not impress me at all, and it got hung up in cardboard as well. I plan on using my japanese water stones to bring the angle of the edge down, is that the same method you used? I figured it was since you said the thumbstuds got in the way, if so then how bad was it? Thanks in advance!

My 25 wasn't hair popping as they claim when it arrived. I ran it across my EdgePro and you can easily shave with it now!
