Sebenza this Sebenza that

Pkd:

You summed it up perfectly. I the end it is the buyer who makes the desicion. Sebs aren't for everyone. I have quite a few Sebs in my collection. CRK is the only "production" company that makes dedicated left hand framelocks. Why do I have so many Sebs? Well not to brag to my friends, they think I'm crazy to spend more than $10 for a folder. I buy them because I can and because I appreciate a well made folder and CRK has earned my trust. I do it for self satisfaction. I'm trying to limit myself to one Seb a year, a large LE (limited edition inlay). I hope you are stong enough to keep your purchase one just one more. I've told myself that many times. I'm glad you are happy with your first one!

Add me to the Nutt List just got mine, Large Classic w/ Curley Maple, I do beleve its going to be my #1 EDC Just put the Microtec D/A Lightfoot away, I have had Buck 110 auto, Case XX copperlock Auto, Microtech Nemesis and Halo along with many others over the Years But The Sebenza so far is TITS, IMO

Damn! It didn't take long. I just bought a Large Regular Sebenza, mint condition at a very good price. I now have a small Classic with Unique Graphics (Lisa's Pick June '06) and a large Regular with Unique Graphics (Lisa's Pick April '06). Ok, I'm done with the Sebbies, I'm done with the Sebbies, I said I'm done with the Sebbies! Uh-oh, what have I done?

What have you done pkdmslf?! Didn't we tell you?! Congrats!! We have you now!! Nuahahahahahahaha!! LOL!

NZ is wrong about 1 thing.

I did NOT buy any other 'high end' folders before I got my Lg Classic Sebbie in 03 (?). It was one of the last ones that Tom Mayo did his magic on before he stopped. It has been on my belt ever since.

I did buy one 'low end' folder, a CRKT about a year before the Sebbie that I gave away after a week or so, because.

I was and still am, carrying Busse's for EDC, but wanted a folder also. It's really hard to have a CRKT anywhere near a Busse without the Busse wanting to chop it in half. LOL

Much reading here told me plenty about the Seb and I already had a Reeve Project 2 and the quality evident in that knife spoke volumes

The Project 2 got traded for the Sebbie and the Sebbie has been on the belt ever since. It has never spent the night in the safe and plays well with the Busse on the other side of the belt.

NZ is right about 1 thing. This will be the last folder I own. It is also the ONLY folder I own.

The funny thing is, I've seen other plain Sebs and actually asked what they were, while mine was on my belt.

I'm so used to the holes in mine, a un Mayonized Seb just looks like something I've never seen.

NickZak, If Spyderco, Benchmade, et. al, are "high end folders", then Chris Reeve makes an "ultra-high end folder"! They are not in the same league. That's a little like saying a suit from Walmart is pretty much like one from The Men's Warehouse. I carried Spyderco and Benchmade as a serving Army Officer for 23 years but my Sebenze is the only one I carry now. I do have a CRKT M21 I keep for emergencies (because it's so large and tough) if my Sebenza is somehow lost.

Which also brings up a point. I agree with GarageBoy, this knife is made to be used! Oh sure, you can put lipstick on it with an inlay or a damascus blade, but it's measure is as a user. If it were worthless in use, all the decoration in the world would not make it a worthwhile posession. ...but that is not the case. I've used my hard and trust it implicitly.

I too was one who always questioned what was so special about a Sebenza? I held any number of other people's Sebenzas in my hand trying to figure out which would be right for me should I ever finally break down and get one.
The Sebenza is a very well-made knife of excellent materials and a general-purpose design...
To Esav's quote I would like to add... a Sebenza can be so damn pretty, too!
