Sebenza thoughts?

I get the feeling that anyone who doesn't already own a Sebenza has either dismissed it as too expensive, or is just waiting until the finances click into place. I fall into the latter category.

Does anyone have any suggestions about where to go to get a Sebenza modified? I'm thinking about a sculpted handle, and perhaps some flame colouring.

Congrats Barker. I hope you enjoy the knife. If you don't, I hope you sell it for a good price and the new owner enjoys it.

Blade Guy- I am waiting for a BM AFCK in the mail. Once I get it, I want to take a pic of it with the Sebenza, Skirmish, Manix, and SERE.

Well, sorta. I just got paid today and am trying to decide on a knife to buy. If I get a Spec Bump, then I will wait for it to come before taking the pic as I want it in the pic too. If I decide on something not in that class of knife (such as a Nakamura), then I won't have to wait for the next order to come too.

I don't have a digital cam, so taking a pic is a bit of a PITA and I don't like to do it more than I have to.

P.S. I know there is a new Spec Bump coming out with S30V, but I already have a lot of knives in S30V and none in 154CM, so I actually want the old Spec Bump more for that reason. I also like the old G-10 better.

I absolutely LOVE my large Sebenza!! It an amazing knife! And one of MY all time favorites. Do yourself a favor and get one!!

No I haven't, but you didn't understand my point.

I am a big Ferrari fan and have heard (and believe) that the beauty of owning and driving a Ferrari goes beyond objective performance.....

I understood your point and I thought it was very well made. Many people will never understand the "Sebenza thing" and perhaps that's just as well. But as any current owner here will tell you, just having it in your pocket will make you feel better. As will many other high quality knives. And if Chris Reeve (or WH or a "star" custom maker) can make a lot of money by doing this, I say more power to them. Taken simply as a cutting implement, the Sebenza isn't "worth" the money nor does anyone "need" one. But what price can you put on "soul"?

FWIW, I have driven quite a few Ferraris and owned two of them - including a Testarossa. IMHO, not one of them was "worth" the money they cost. But when you open the door and get inside and breathe deeply - words like "need", "worth", and "rational" go right out the window! And in a life worth living, that's how it should be.

Enjoy the Sebenza! :)
