Sebenza thumb studs are good

Granted it takes a little getting used to at 1st, but it has worked very well for me. I like the design.

Hated it on the small 21 I had. It's better on the large, but I'd still rather it be a bit more cylindrical than conical, or maybe a bit taller.

The studs are great for a tool. Not so much for a toy.
I like ‘em because they seem to force my thumb into the perfect vector for deployment.

So my 31 got here about an hour ago the thumbstud is more usable on it than my 21 so we'll see how it goes.

Why they bother to put a blue anodization that's probably not Type-III and ends up being rubbed off to look like a pimple.

I like them, they are angled and shaped well for the precise directional pressure needed to deploy the knife. I've read and heard lots of complaints about them being pointy.
They aren't designed to be pushed down upon directly from above though, and when you use them the way they were designed they work and feel great.
Just place your thumb at roughly 5 Oclock position below the lug and roll it around, my 21 thumb flicks open just fine as well.
I really don't think they are as bad as everybody makes them out to be, there's nothing wrong with them, my thumb always stays connected and never slips off either when doing a C motion, if I roll directly up it can slip, but when following the C pattern it stays locked on perfectly through the entire deployment.

I like them.
Being new to them (I have the Small Sebenza with inlays, and the Large on the way) and having been spoiled by all the Axis lock super-easy open and close functions, there’s definitely a learning curve. It seems to me the thumb stud is too low, and too close-in. If I could find an offset stud then changed the location, it would make it easier, for me at least. I can back finger flick most other knives, must mine just has the show side stud. I’m capable of adding a dual stud, but really hate to change the factory set-up.

I’m hoping I just get used to it.

Im new to CRKs as well. I have both a small and large Sebenza. they both open by sliding your thumb nail under the the stud and the follow the curve of the handle that should overcome the initial stickiness. I find the small seb to cause my thumb some pain when my thumbnail is real short.

I have a small and a large Sebenza 31, and I’ll admit my initial impression has been below expectations. I’ve watched videos on the sweeping motion, where to engage the stud, and how others are opening their Sebenza, and it just irritates my thumb no matter what.
