does anybody know how the thumbstud is atached to the blade is it screwed or ......

the tiniest variance in size of the thumbstud and the space its going into could result in a cracked blade. it doesnt happen very often.

only cases i've seen/heard of is people sending their knives in to have the thumbstuds replaced.

It's the same as sticking a peg into hole that has a slightly smaller diameter.

I also haven't seen any other blades crack than the BG-42 blades, I have never heard of it happening to any S30V blades as yet. The blade cracking above the thumb stud is a small chance as the Ti stud is softer than the blade and does "give a little", that's one reason the press fit works. They do say they use loc-tite during the fitting as well on the DVD.
