Sebenza - what about edge toughness ?

My concerns are not about heat threating which is as we all know outstanding but about Sebenza's grinds geomethry which is rather low.

Right now I have both large regular and classic sebbies and although the tip of the blade seems quite safe, both my Sebbies have razor thin cutting edge on their whole lengh. That makes Sebenza extraordinary cutters but does this also creates possibility of easier chipping and damaging the edge ?

Did any of You ever experienced it ?

I would also like to state that my concerns does not change my opinion that Sebenza is the best production folder ever made, period. Heck I recived today Large classic and I already think about small classic :D

Put a caliper on the edge right behind the edge bevel...you will be suprised how thick Sebbies are.... These are not powder puff knives.

That's right, I would have liked them a bit thinner.
Mine is 0.6mm and 0.4mm at the tip.
An allover edge of 0.4mm is what I preffer.

I haven't measured the edge of mine (I have measured the spine, however, but I forgot what the thickness was), but it has seen daily EDC use for a couple of months at home and in the warehouse. I cut everything from small bushes to cardboard boxes and dog food bags to nylon strapping and zip ties. No damage to tip or edge and very little touch-up required.

Mine has a thicker edge than most of my other knives. I would not worry about it. If anything, I wouldn't mind a thinner grind.

Vince, enjoy and use you sebby! And don't worry too much... I use my sebs for almost any cutting I can imagine and no chipping occured. Ever. Just don't chop bricks & stones with it ;)

But... always... you know... Think Twice - Cut Once :D

Sight... Bricks were my primary cutting purposes ;)

Thanks for all your replys. The case is clear to me now.

I have only chipped a blade once over the last 8 years of Seb carry. Don't worry about it, use it / sharpen it, that's what they are for. They are work horses.
