sebie gripes

They're only a fixed blade if you have them in the open and locked positon :) So they can't get you if it's in your pocket.

I really like the look of the new leather ones... I gotta order one soon!

come on,if i got stopped with a strider ar the old bill are going to take some persuading not to nick me,a small sebenza on the other hand......
why on earth do you think i would use the blade to strike a spark?i use the spin,i know a sharp edge is for cutting, and are you saying a seby cant chop hard woods,my bob lum chinese does with no problem.

you are right about the convex,i do prefer a flat grind and i did not check the blade after each task,i never have before when doing this test on other blades(they never chipped).
as for more test's it will get them over the next month or so and i will be hard on this knife,in light of what has happened.

now i must say it is great to see so many jump to the defence of this knife this makes me hope that this is a one off and that it will not happen again,as end users we must have thease discusions,i know i have learnt quite a bit from thease forums.
general(wayne)i feel you realy do "rate " sebenzas/cr products and i hope the c.r himself knows how lucky he is to have such an asset.
humpty, you really should learn how to sharpen,no one should know your kit better than you.
cheers and thanks again

p.s obi wan benza? light sable?

Gentlemen, please remember that a true Jedi builds his own light sabre, so you have your choice of materials. I think I'll continue to use the titanium & BG-42 models I've collected. :)

Hey, guys, this whole discussion illustrates an overlooked fact: Heat treatment and edge angle can have more effect on knife performance than steel type.

Even though S30V HAS THE POTENTIAL of out-performing BG42, the latter blade with optimum heat treatment and edge angle can easily out-perform an S30V non-optimized blade.

So maybe the new steel can stand a little work in these areas at CRK. I tried a new Sebbie as my EDC, but switched back to my Spyderco PE Military. Not only is it bigger, lighter (G10 handle) and at least as strong (lock strength = 150-200 in lbs), but its S60V blade holds a super edge and holds it longer than the S30V Sebbie blade.
