Second Case Knife: What Should I Go With?

I posted a thread a few days ago looking for a comparison between two specific medium-sized case knives, but since that time I've been doing some looking around and realized there are a lot of awesome models in the size range I'm interested in, so I thought I would simply pose this question to all of you wiser, more experienced guys and gals: What medium(ish) sized case model would you recommend someone buy?

I love my peanut so much that I decided to get something slightly larger. Probably the most important aspect of a knife for me is how well it carries, so I'm interested in something midsized (or larger if it's something that carries really well) that doesn't bother you to have in the pocket. Some of the models I've seen that I really like the looks of (but know nothing about how they carry) are the swayback jack, the swayback gent, the texas jack, the copperlock, and the slimline trapper (some of those are based on recommendations from my previous post- a huge thanks to those of you who gave advice!.

So what do you think? Any model that carries nicely and isn't too huge I would definitely consider. Thanks in advance for any advice you might have!

May I humbly reccomend the Case Texas Jack? :)

I'm just posting this because it's what I'm carrying today. Really liking it so far.

Since the TJ does not have a straight-edged blade (and they are SO useful!) I would recommend the stockman on the same frame, the #63032.

They come in a variety of handles and with either Tru-Sharp or CV blades.

Mini Trapper. It's not a big knife, but it feels bigger than it is, and carries well... There is an almost endless choice of scales, and either SS or CV, and they have half stops.

Good call, Mike, especially with the Wharncliffe version. Here is mine (#6207W SS), which I've been carrying lately.

I tend to agree, Jeff. I like my 6232 jack very much, but the sheepsfoot on the 6332 stockman does make it a considerably more useful tool in the pocket.

I would really like to have a sheepsfoot blade on whatever I pick up

Black mamba- A huge thanks for the heads up, I did not know they made any of the small jack knives with a wharncliffe, I was thinking of picking up the small stockman (but they only have it in ss and I'm loving the cv on my peanut) but that mini trapper with a wharncliffe looks awesome.

If by small stockman you mean the 3-1/2" size, then it IS available in CV with either square (#63032 CV) or round (#6318 CV) bolsters,
with the third blade either a spey (most common), or pen, or even a punch. Do some searching and you'll find one you like.

I actually meant the 2 5/8 itty bitty one, but I will look at some of those small stockman models!

I also just ran across the mini copperhead, and absolutely love the looks of it.. it's almost like a swayback jack but put into a single-spring pen knife configuration. However i can't find any cv versions from my normal knife shops, do they make any mini copperheads with cv steel?

I do love the looks of the texas jack and it sounds like a great worker, but I tried carrying around another knife of a similar size today and I think it may be a tad large for me, definitely noticed it in my pocket (of course this could be because I've gotten used to carrying the peanut)

The Texas Jack really isn't very big IMO. It's actually smaller than what I like to carry normally. I tend to like trappers and Sod Busters Seniors.

If the TJ is too big, I think a Peanuts and Pembertons are where you are at..... maybe a small stockman.

There is a stockman that is larger than the small stockman but smaller than the texas Jack, the 6344.

It does come in both stainless and CV, options are limited though on handle color compared to the larger "medium" stockmans.

It is smaller in every dimension, and of course lighter.

The Wharncliffe Trapper is the best EDC knife you can have....imho! It does everything you need it to do and more. It carries like
a medium size knife and cuts like a big knife or even a small knife when using the Wharncliffe blade and the end. It's a great knife to buy
if you don't have a bunch of slip joints to choose from because it's good for work or a night out...

I'd second Jason - a Wharncliffe trapper is pretty hard to beat. And if you can find one with carbon blades, even better.

if you like em cute and tiny (though you said something larger), why not a matching tiny toothpick? i find my chestnut bone TT to be a babe magnet if i leave it on my office desk open. :D
