Hey folks. Taking the advice from some of the members on here, I got to work on my second knife. Different shape, same tools, a little experience under my belt, and I think this one turned out great. Lemme know what you guys think. I hope you like it half as much as I enjoyed working on it! Constructive criticism is encouraged. The handle is a little minimalist but it fits my hand well and I LOVE the wood.

Dimensions:

OAL: 8"
Handle length: 4"
Cutting edge: 3.5"

Blade material: 1/8" 1084 Steel from Aldo

Handle material: Walnut (BLO and Wax finish) with Brass pins

Looks good. Personally I'm not a fan of a flat spine from tip to butt I prefer a more curved shape but that's just esthetics. The only thing I can really say is your sand marks on your finish look wavy and possibly have some fish hooks (going off the 3rd pic) which takes away from an otherwise nice satin finish. Maybe it's just the photo but if they are in fact like that when you get into you final grits, say second to last and final, stop sanding back and forth. Take your sanding block and pull only in one direction from the ricasso to the tip. Take the block off set it down at the starting point and make another pull. Repeat, repeat, repeat :). Other than that nice looking little user they'll just keep getting better and better.

I know what you are saying. Perhaps I should have taken another picture. That was taken post sharpening but before I put a final sanding into it. My sharpening jig has a possibility to mar up my blade a bit so I finish sand after I sharpen. I sand in the way you mentioned from 1000 grit up through my 3M pads :)

Looks good. I'm hoping to make an attempt at making a knife sometime this year.

Keep it up.
