Hey guys,

The first filet knife I made was about a year ago as a Christmas gift for my father. I was in way over my head and it turned out just OK.

This one was started about three months ago. It took a ton of hand sanding to get my grinds all smoothed out. Unlike the first one, the blade flexes really well and keeping the handle thicker at the butt made it much more comfortable.

This is the first time I've done a straight taper on the handle from the front to middle.

It's made of ATS-34 and has maple burl scales.

That's a lovely knife. I really like how you shaped the scales. Not as exaggerated of a "coke bottle" shape as some and it looks like it would be very comfortable in hand.

Thanks for all of the comments. I'm glad it turned out this well. It's going to help me move the bar on my future knives.

Nice work. The funny thing about fillet knives is that while most of them use a fairly narrow range of blade shapes, the handle shapes and sizes can vary widely. The handles on the Bubba Blade knives look like they were designed for rather large male orangutan!!!! Your' knife has a slightly narrow handle, but that works a lot better for me than a neoprene club.
