Hey Guy's,

I took a couple weeks off to gather my thought's and catch a second wind. I'm not going to make the mistake of doing a WIP on my first knife, nor on my second knife. I have a couple of pic's of the knife so far. I thought I'd do the plunge and bevels before doing anything with the tang, so that if I hosed up again, it wouldn't be so much time and work wasted. I do know that if I'm really going to get serious about this, I need a 2x72 grinder! So here is what I have done so far, I'll be bringing it to Mystic knife show to get some advice from a couple of friends that have tables there.

It looks like you have it nailed down pretty well. That little recurve in the blade may present some challenges if you are using flat files, though.

Hehe, I agree. It's been a week and a half of just looking at a blade that I was working on. I decided I also needed a 2x72 so I've been working on that. My 4x36 is just too prone to mis-grinds. Yes, a craftsman always blames the tools. . . .

Are you planning something for the handle, or just a big square?

I'm pretty sure it's going to be wood of some kind. I have a few to choose from. I don't know if I'm going stick tang or full yet.

Thanks Zaph.

OK Guy's,

I made some progress! I am pretty happy with it so far. It isn't perfect, but it isn't the first knife either. I'm just wondering what I should do at this point? I don't have a drill press, so I don't want to attempt to drill the tang yet. Should I hand sand it now, or does that happen after heat treat? Input is appreciated. Here are some pics:

Looks good! I would start hand sanding if you are close to your pre-HT edge thickness. You generally want to get rid of the coarse scratches before HT. What is the steel type and how are you planning to HT?
