Second night out

I've slept in the cho-liner, on a sleeping pad w/ garbage-bag ground cloth, with the poncho set up as a shelter in 40 degrees, with very little humidity. It's wasn't bad. I did leave the polypro's and watch cap on, though. Humidity and moisture really throw a wrench into sleeping comfortably.

Since the temp can get cold, I would focus on a real sleeping system; maybe a warm-weather bag, with silk liner, inside a bivy, on a Tyvek ground cloth on a sleeping pad. The pad will make a difference.

If you're looking for a light, reusable sleeping bag try a blizzard bag http://www.blizzardsurvival.com/product.php/100/blizzard-survival-bag

It's a two layer foil bag with a corrugated cross-section in between. They come vacuum packed and are about the size of an old video cassette.

They are re-usable - I've used one about three times and it's still got life in it yet - kept me warm in about 5 Centigrade (on a thermarest) - wind and waterproof too though I've yet to test that.

Some UK ultra-lighters use them as their main bags - the British and US Army are using them as well, mainly for casualties I think.

I've got about four lol

Weight is 385 grammes.

edited to add ... no connection with the company, just thought might be of interest for anyone into ultra-light gear!

Joben,

Yes, I am a fan of MST3K. Thanks for recognizing that. Nobody ever gets the reference. :)
