Second thoughts on Survival Knife

Carbon steel generally will need some attention because it tends to rust easier than stainless. But carbon steel will be easier to sharpen and will hold an edge better than most stainless. HOWEVER :) the stainless in the Moras is pretty good stuff.

The 760 and 780 Moras look good. Ditto what Esav Benjamin said above, carbon steel is easier to sharpen. Truth be told if you take care of it it won't rust per se but will develop a "patina" over time. Looks good to me. Pick one of these inexpensive knives you like, use it for a while, and you will learn exactly what you personally are looking for. Then invest in a higher quality knife that matches your requirements.

I suggest that anyone new to the woods bring a saw rather than an axe, at least until you've had a chance to play with one at home. Cold, tired, and hungry is a bad time to be swinging a heavy lump of sharp metal into your shin. Saws are much easier to control and even a relatively small folding saw can be very productive.

this is excellent advice (as usual) from Esav.

Folding saw plus a 3.5-4.5" fixed blade....and i'm set to go.

my blade choices are either a CS master hunter in CV....or a Dozier K2.
