Second Traditional Recommendation - First is a swayback jack

I own 1 traditional knife - a Case swayback jack in cv/chestnut. I absolutely love it. I love the wharncliffe primary blade, I love the look and feel of the knife. I love the handle shape as it is comfortable to hold. My only problem with it is I find it to be a tiny bit too small. I have seen similar knives with similar handles that I like the look of but I think they are too big. The new GEC 481213 Improved Trapper - love the wharncliffe blade and the shape looks comfortable, but the length is 3 7/8". The length of the Case SBJ is an even 3" so I worry that this GEC would be too big for me. Any recommendations for a knife similar to the Case SBJ (wharncliffe style blade) but a tad bit bigger in the blade and handle? Thanks

GEC #55 is a hair bigger than the SBJ. I find it to be more comfortable in hand as well.

OoOo very pretty knife. Nice size too, about 3.75". I like it in camel bone. Great first choice to put on my list of knives to think about. Thanks!

edit: this was in regards to the Northwoods Fremont

VictorKilo, LOVE the look of that 55. Looks exactly what I am looking for. Is it a liner lock? Never used a traditional liner lock before so I am curious

My #55's are the normal models, haven't tried the liner lock variants from GEC. Traditional liner locks function like a slipjoint, the lock tab just acts as a safety but doesn't necessarily hold the blade in place.

Oh ok, I see now. Seems like the liner locks are easier to find. Id much rather find the normal model in something not stag!! lol

Collectorknives.net (knifeswapper here on the forums) has the autumn bone wharncliffe available. That's the only non-locking/stag I'm seeing.

Thats funny. Just found that very one you speak of. :) Now time to do some digging and sleep on it for a night before I impluse buy

Any more recommendations? Want to make a purchase sometime this weekend.

And I LOVE the Northwoods Norfolk but seems a bit pricey. Id like to stay under $100 and the Norfolk seems to be a bit out of my range.

The 55 is a favorite around here. I highly recommend it, especially in that autumn bone.

If I end up with the 55, I was going to try it in Bocote. I dont own any knives in wood and my SBJ is chestnut so wanted to change it up a bit. Anyone have comments on the 55 bocote? Thanks all for the insight and help!

Thanks for the pics!! I think I am going with the bocote liner lock 55. Just waiting to hear back from a dealer or 2 to see if I can get pictures. Thanks again for all the help

Since I know you all care SO much, I think I have decided on finding a Northfield for the all the extra snazziness. I think I prefer the look of the bocote wood, but the extra flair the Northfield has to offer, I may settle for the autumn gold

Love the size of the GEC 55 compared to the case SBJ. definitely pleased with my purchase. sorry for the poor iphone pictures

Case made a Mini Trapper (3 1/2" closed) with a warncliffe secondary rather than the regular spey secondary. I have a regular mini trapper (same length) and am very happy with the size and ease of pocket carry. You could probably do some searching and find the model with the wanrcliffe secondary although it's not a standard stock knife.

Just another option to confuse you even more:)

If you want a bigger Case with a Warncliff main blade you might want to put your hands on a 6249W-CV, this one is a 2006 variation and is 3-7/8" long (but due to the frame design feels smaller in the hand than a square-bolstered 4" knife). OH
