I've been watching the exchange a lot lately and I've been seeing a lot of Hinderer knives coming through. My question is why? I know you could say the same thing about Spyderco or Benchmade but the market is huge for those compared to Hinderers. I don't see nearly as many knives pass through from other similar makers. Any input from current or past Hinderer users?

I don't think it's out of the ordinary, a comparable maker would be CRK and there is an entire section for selling them.

They all go in cycles, everyone knows Hinderer is a popular brand and can be moved fairly quick.
Not everyone has the luxury of keeping all the knives they buy, so the more popular ones are sold for the next purchase.

I've been looking at some and was just making sure people aren't dumping them because of a quality issue or something.

Well i dont think its a quality issue. But it is a possibility that some buy a hinderer and expectations are not met or they feel its not so good that it is worth the high asking price. Hinderer prices have come down. Dealers get them more frequently and the bubble may have just burst. I also think that any product that is popular in general will also be popular on the exchange. We see a lot of zt knives. Ut most who use them regularly agree they are a good knife.

They're just making more knives than before, so more supply less demand because they're not the golden unicorn anymore. Still a great knife in my opinion. Lots of great choices out there, some people can't afford several nice knives so they sell some to purchase more.

For the price they're selling at people can afford to buy one just to see if they like them. The ones being sold weren't a good fit to the people who bought them so they sell. I don't think it's a quality issue. It's probably more along the lines of the knives were really hard to come by for a long time and now they're plentiful and cheap enough for people to see if they actually want one. The ones being sold are just someone saying no, they don't want the one they're selling for any number of reasons. Low quality probably isn't one of them.

I got caught up in the mystique of owning a grail Hinderer. I got it, nice knife, but no grail in my opinion. I agree with the other commenters. Mine will go on the block eventually, I just don't find myself reaching for it very often. Nothing wrong with the quality just not for me

Probably for the same reason I sold my CRK Sebenza twice, nice enough knife, great blade, but overall I had a really expensive paper-weight. It was too expensive and perty for me to seriously use, and I had so many other more versatile knives I never really carried it. I'm not a collector so it seemed silly for me to hold onto it and not use it.

I often thought there seemed to be a lot of them on the exchange too. Thankfully, I rarely spend over $100 on a knife so Hinderers and CRK are something I don't have to worry or think too much about. Being frugal has its advantages.

As with all knives, Hinderer knives are not for everyone. I believe that, while not true in all cases, a higher priced item is more likely to be "caught and released" if it does not satisfy the customer, or put up for sale in lieu of other knives.

There's more production now.
More knives produced equals more knives being bought, which equals more knives for people to sell to other people.
