Sediken??

Was it the ECCO 2.25 ?
Black handles held on with rivits
I think it has Sediken on the package or blade,
I have a couple at home and will look tonight
unless some else chimes in.

ECCO model B275 3.0 inch Cat# 5090

Two Blade ,,one plain, one partially serrated, liner lock opening from each end.

Plastic handles

On front and back, is a logo of what looks like a Sword... The handle of the sword clearly says SEKIDEN. Well clearly if you are using a jewlers loupe...:o

One handed opening and closing. Neat little sleeper among Buck knives.

The serrated blade is what I would call a hawk blade

Sekiden is the way it is spelled
on the handles....I had to get the
magnifing glass out to see it right below BUCK
Mfg date on the blade 2001.USA
Drop point hollow ground blade on one end
warncliff partial serreated on the other.
ECCO 2.25
pics later I EDC it or leave it in my desk.

E3,,, This 3.0 I have has no year code anywhere. Least that I can find ??

EDIT: Ahhh,, this one is Japan. Not USA. Probably why no code..

I always thought they were great little knives, hated to see them discontinued. If memory serves me correctly, the 274 was made in both Japan AND the USA. The original plan was that they would both be made over there then we pulled the 274 back to the El Cajon plant.
We then went to work on getting the 275 in house and just about the time we were ready to do that, they were discontinued.
I think we were bringing them in house because we could make them quicker, it was not a quality issue. Hope this helps.

I spoke with the lady at warranty today, gave her that model number and she told me that they probably wouldn't be able to fix it, and they would replace it with the ECCO B274 instead. From what she said, its a bit smaller, but otherwise identical to the one I had. Our first conversation almost got heated, but I decided to let it slide, no point p'ing off the people in the warranty department before they even recieve my knife :) I did take offense to the statement that i had purchased a fake Buck, i would NEVER! Only because the first knife I ever had was a Bucklite with green handles and a camo case, and I still have it, and it still holds a great edge.

You may or may not know that Buck made a major move of its entire operation from Califormia to Idaho during the winter of 04/05. Very few of the Calif employees made the move with them. Buck wen't through a huge learning curve with its new employees and you may have gotten one that just didn't have the experience or know how to be able to recognize Sekiden without a model number.

I wouldn't have known it if I hadn't of had a new one still in its box, and remembered looking at the handle through a magnifier and wondered about the unsual name and believe me, this one is unsual.

Buck has seriously come a long way in a relative short period of time at the new location. Maybe this was a learning experience for the person you talked with.

It is sad tho that you may have to settle for the shorter model, but I can understand Buck not being able to stock 40 or 50 years of knife parts for replacement purposes.

Just another interesting tidbit. Year or two or three in the past, the ECCO models were a dime a dozen on ebay. Seems that supply has dried up and the few that I find there now hit near the $20 mark. I think I got mine for 5 or 6 bucks... Strange how that works sometimes.
