Take care, Matt. Your friends are all behind you.

Take care and stay sharp! :)

Solid Soldier,
Let me pass on the best advice I have ever recieved. Right before I went to Sand Hill for Basic and AIT an old Staff Sergeant told me:
"Keep your mouth shut and your ears open".

That advice has served me well for my entire career.:)

Good Luck and God Bless,

Nick (a not so old Staff Sergeant:))

I will not repeat what others said, but add some.
I went through basic and airborne school in 1974, and you know what, its a lot easier than what you have been led to believe if you have half a brain, have no physical impairments and a good attitude.
I am sure basic has not gotten any harder from what I have heard in the interim. Sadly the DI's can probably no longer do the funny and somewhat sadistic, totally un PC stuff they used to do to us. But that's today's Army. But what is going to be hard is the rest of the your 3-4 year hitch. Do not get near anyone who harbors a bad attitude, go to every advanced school they offer, in fact beg to go, look totally strack (sharp) every day, and do it right when people are looking and when they are not. Study hard for your MOS test, and strive to become an NCO. You will be amazed by how far you will go if you follow this advice. I know I was. Good luck.

I wish you the best of luck, and hope you visit BF and let us know how you're doing if you ever get a chance. :)

Andrew

Solid, you now have almost recieved all of the advice that you need. Keep your crap together and you will be fine. And remember that after your 14 weeks a Ft. Bennings School for Boys, and you get that pass to see the world, have fun in VD Drive ;)

Seriously, good luck.

Ditto what Mike990 said. My son just left to Fort Leonard Wood,MP MOS, "keep your mouth shut and your ear's open" Akabu

Thanks for the advice everyone... This is my last night on BFC so I guess this means goodbye for now. I'll just make this short. While I'm gone, I'll be thinking of you.

Remember that it is 95% mental. Your body is capable of a hell of a lot more than we normally give it credit for. Keep your head on and play the game.
