Here is a new blade I picked up from Steve Johnson at Blade Show this year. I will be doing some more involved testing and reviewing soon, but I wanted to get some feedback from ya'll.

See what you think.

So far, I been pretty impressed with how well it cuts, but we'll get into that a little more later on.

Maybe.....

You worried your heat treat won't take it?:D

The whole thing is D2. And if memory serves, its HT takes it to around 60. SEJ would be able to answer that better.

Right now, the handle is a just a synthetic all weather material covering the D2.

Nope. Not at all. :) I tested one of the prototypes to failure. I'm not saying you CAN'T do it with a sand brick....but they're pretty tough.

Its just black from some tree roots I was digging at, that's all. :D

There is still a very pointy tip left on it.

Cool, that sounds quite durable. Let us know what sort of abuse it withstands... :D

I will. I usually put my reviews up in the Review section, but since Steve is too cheap to get a forum here, I'll more than likely put it there. :D

I mean, he can't even change his name to the right color. :D

Blade, steel & heat treat: edge has Microserration(TM) (grinning) Steel is D2. Heat treat is in house and I'm taking the fifth on my exact process...I will say this....at one point in the process there is big pot of stuff that bubbles, smokes and get's really angry when I put the steel in it.... Handle is a work in progress. The one Moose has is dipped in Hurculiner, it is a very utilitarian coating that provides good texture, light weight and easy clean up. It will be the standard handle finish and keeps the price point down. I made some scales yesterday that will be the model for a mold that's in the pipeline, but that will probably be a 25-30 dollar option.

it's not so much cheap as it is ignorant.... I am coachable.... (insert pointers here, please) :)

Gracias. if you can give me about 1 hr, I'm getting some stuff wrapped up with our ad agency on the beef side....

Is that chisel-ground with a micro-bevel on the back side? Voo-ha!

You are correct sir.

The MicroSerrations (tm) are designed to be renewed, easily. Instead of sharpening it like normal serrations, you just sharpen the back bevel, then strop the front. The serrations will be fresh and sharp. So far, its worked. I've sharpened it twice (didn't have to) but I was curious.

Very nice. Pretty cool as well, and that D2 is a beast! I also like the texture/material on the handles. Do I see a paracord wrapped handle coming up in the near future? =] I think that would be awesome.

Possibly. The problem, is Steve has the big ham hands, and that ring is almost too large for me to use comfortably. Para might take it over the mark.

We'll see.

Thanks. Re Paracord.... gonna do a couple this week that were a special request. I'll get some pictures before I send them out. I will probably go with gutted paracord, as the handle is sized to fit an average hand w/o any scales or wrap.

also, forgot to mention that the D2 stock is .200" thick....

Oh, that was YOU holding the knife?
I thought they were little girl hands...

They are little girl hands.

I keep my big gorilla mitts in a box, only use them when I have to.
