Another for John Lloyd .

I do not know John's knife making schedule. I do not have any backpocket trappers by John in stock, but you can contact him through his profile & I'm sure he'd be happy to accommodate you. He loves making the folders ,and likes this size knife, too

I like the 52100 steel that Lloyd used for my slim line trapper .

Years back ,at a time there was far less custom slipjoint makers,PJ Tomes made folders with 52100. Now,they sharpened out easily to a razor's edge. For years I thought because they were so easy to sharpen, they had to be soft steel, and not really hold an edge too well. Then I met John and he sent many folders in this steel. I punished a few to test. I was surprised how well they heald an edge. I'm now convinced, the steel is good.
I always say,at the cost of a custom hand made slipjoint, even a lazy user will take care of the blade good enough that corrosion will not present too much problem. Of course the patina builds corrosion resistance as well.

John uses ss as well, but I know he likes that 52100 carbon ball bearing steel

Thanks guys, i sent John a message. I appreciate your help.

You could always dye those handles darker with RIT dye
Hey goose I just wanted to say thank you. I took your suggestion to heart. I've never dyed a knife handle before, I didn't even know it was possible... but I tackled it this afternoon. I was so disappointed in the color of my back pocket. It was similar to the pic above but even more light/orangeish... Now it looks like this:

Came out great

Great job and good looking knife booya the lanyard looks great on it. [emoji106]
Thanks guys.

Coincidentally I made that lanyard tonight also: I noticed some dark brown leather boot laces in the shoe isle when i was buying the rit dye this afternoon. The dye and the leather laces seemed to be paired well even on the shelf, so together they will remain on my Case.

With all this discussion of backpocket knives, I thought I'd toss out and actual "better backpocket".

I run a seam about 1/2 way up my right rear pocket. Knife goes in the outer side. Seam holds the knife upright. Secret is to keep the seam quite a bit less tall than the knife, so you can easily fish it out. Just enough to keep upright.
