Seen any Stars lately, or whose that guy?

I was at Stanford in the mid '90s, so I've seen Condi many times, and have friends that dealt with her on campus issues.
One friend's comment (not really word-for-word but close):
"She's a hard@ss b*tch, but when she says she'll do something, she actually does. Which is better than 90% of the other adminstrators."

I also got to meet Chuck Yeager at some impress-young-people event when I was in high school. Very friendly, lots of good stories. The great thing is, my dad was there too, and Yeager was his hero from childhood (born 1944).

I've had a couple shoulder rubbings...
I had Jim Belushi, a tall blonde, some other guy and his date chump my table as I was about to be seated at the famous Rosebud restaurant in Chicago's little Italy. I was pretty pissed because I had made a reservation, and was kept waiting for over an hour and a half. The maitre'd saw that I was nearing axe murder stage, and had the manager come and make things right for me and my dinner date once we finally got seated. Thanks Jim for the comped dinner!
My next one was with Joe Mantengna (sp?), an actor with some solid Chicago ties. We were in the walk in humidor of a famous cigar shop right across the street from the Chicago board of trade... the name escapes me at the moment. Anyways, me and Joe talked cigars for quite awhile. Heck of a nice and down to earth guy.
And I ate breakfast with Danbo about a week ago... does that qualify?

Don't really run into too many celebrities down here. Jean-Claude Van Damme was at a fight I went to a couple of weeks ago but I don't think he really counts as "celebrity."

For you old school wrestler fans, I ran into Don the Rock Muraco in court some ten years ago (the only time I've ever set foot in a courtroom). That dude is definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed.

If you count local celebs, here you see them all the time, go waikiki and someone is always playing somewhere.

From the ones I can remember:

Makaha Sons
Kapena
Uprising

Mark Stephen, won Pride of the Islands a few years ago for best origional song, something like that. He is the head of security at Daei.

The Manao Company

Some of the local news anchors and radio personalities, you see around town sometimes.

"Cy the Local Guy", Mr Carnate, from Kccn FM 100, was a teacher at the middle school I went to.

Jake Shimabukuro, actually the whole Colon crew.

Heart and Soul, two of the guys had the same Ukulele and Guitar teachers, at the same middle and highschool as me. Never really knew who they were when I met them.

Kalapana

There were a few more that I was supposed to meet, but they died. Some like Ledward Kalapana, my was my father's classmate. :(

Only one (other than an occasional passing by at an airport or function.)

Dinner with B.B. King at Ma Hulls boarding house (Atlantain the 70's.)
Back then in the Highlands E.N.E. of downtown Ms Hull ran a boarding house (what might be called a bread and breakfast nowdays) in the area. Every evening she cooked and anyone could go eat for 4 or 5 bucks. There were several large tables and a family style arrangment. My gf at the time and I decided to eat dinner there one Friday night. He wanders in and plops down beside Molly. Very enjoyable time with a good man. He even gave us great tickets to his show that evening and asked us to spend a little time with him after his show.

Janis Joplin sipped a bit of Jack(or was it Southern Comfort) with her backstage at the Fillmore West.
Steve Mcqueen rode a hare and hound chasing him(certainly not in front)
Tony Curtis(USMC boot camp,he was making a movie and shot the bull with a bunch of us)
Jack Nicholson (bought him a beer in Montana)
Lee Marvin
Steven Seagal (wanted to buy a knife from me at a show)
David Crosby at a knife show(Solvang)
James Garner
Andy Griffith

My wife used to work at Disney Studios so we met a bunch of stars, The only ones that really stand out are Paul Newman was at a restaurant (the Smokehouse) we had lunch. I was impressed by how he was with people who asked for an autograph. Actually talked to them a little and was real respectful. Also, met Clint Eastwood at the supermarket. My wife sent me to get a can of coffee with a coupon while she was looking for other things. I turned into the coffee isle and here was Clint coming the other way, giving me that dirty Harry look. I didn't bother him or anything, just looked for the Yuban. Told the wife 'guess who is over in the coffee isle?' She could care less until I said it was Clint, then she went for a look. :D

At the Great Western Gun show years ago, I was in the knife building and walked up to a small table at the end of the isle. Here were 5 great looking knives. The little old guy at the booth said 'go ahead, pick one up.' I picked one up and it was an original Rambo knife from 1st Blood. The little old guy was Jimmy Lile. The knives were the last from a run of 25 he did for the movie. I could have got one for $500. It was an honor to talk to him for aq while. That was a great show, Bruce Boxlightner, Tom Seleck, and others were there. The anti gun crowd got rid of that show.

I saw a few in NYC- ran into- literally ran into Jackie Mason on 6th Ave in midtown- was in a hurry to meet the gf & rounded a corner really sharp. Nice guy. Kinda bouncy.
Working in radio, I've met my share. I wish I could remember all of the Jazz folks I met- not being a huge fan, they just sort-of came & went. Met some minor league rock folks. One of the most memorable was Leif Garrett. My desk was in the sales pit & I caught a glimpse of him w/ his manager & a couple of our DJ's on the way into one of the studios. The drugs were not kind to him. I guess he was promoting a tour w/ a "hard" rock band. Had to fight to compose myself I was laughing so hard. About an hour later, I went to the coffee room for a cup of coffee & Leif was there w/ the filter basket in hand, making a fresh pot. I told him how many scoops, etc & where to fill the water up to & we had a chat- really decent, down to earth guy who's had a hard run of it despite early fame- felt bad for laughing before.

Worked security for John Melloncamp when he was filming a movie in town.

Got a number of autographs of county singers in person. Willie (he signed my Blade mag with his knife on cover).Shania Twain,Alan Jackson and many others.
