Seen on Youtube

Was he able to fully open a single flipper knife? I saw three fails and turned it off.

He fails all the way to the end; flippers and non-flippers alike. He also has a strange habit of carelessly tossing his knives around. Which is fine by me, but leaves me wondering why we saw little or no marring on these knives, if that’s how he has been handling them over a “lifetime”.

the average life span of a teenager is 9 years.
plus the average pocket money isn't
going to be enough for big brand names.
yeah, the video does potray a circa 2000ish
budget pocket knife fetish that the video uploader has.hopefully, finally outgrown?
stangely enough, none of the knives appear used or well worn. gentlemen! this the first
i've seen a vdo full of safequeen budgets :)

LMAO budget safequeens hahaha.

You’re right. We don’t exactly see a lot of thirteen year olds running around with a Rockstead or Grimsmo lol. That would do a bigger number on the parents’ budget than a pair of Nikes.

i suppose there was a time when looks were all that mattered to anyone looking to buy a knife.
a knife collector may be one who collects
specific knife categories but at this stage, i
don't know if amassing a bunch of gaudy
budget knives has become an extremely popular and newly formed category in knife
collecting that has or will have folks
in future be interested in buying, selling,
and trading big time for leisure and profit ??!
also (i may stand corrected) to be certified
a knifenut, one has to actually use knives
in order to attain the enlighten level of
steel snob...
othewise one is a just but a whimsical accumalator of fanciful knife wants.
just my 2 cents.

I don’t know about that, I have seen pairs of Nike shoes sell for $3,000+

I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, there was a time early on when I assumed that anything sold as a knife (tactical, ninja or otherwise) would be suitable for its purported use.

From experience, most of us quickly learn that that is not the case, and we begin to catalog those features that we specifically want to see in our knives. We don’t see any evidence of that progression in this video. So he is either suffering from a serious learning disability or he is lying to us about being a lifelong collector.

I find life is easier if I just take people at their word on things that don't matter. I'm going to believe he's a lifelong knife collector based on the number of knives he has and his willingness to say he is one. I hope he enjoys his knives.

"Insane" knife collection is an appropriate title. Hopefully he learns quality over quantity in the future.

Honestly..if those knives make him happy thats cool. What I find dubious is his lack of respect for his collection. Not only does he toss them around..he also doesn't even take time on the knives to admire the finer details of the designs and craftmanship.

Over the years I have seen that just because somebody took the time to turn a camera on and make a videos of knives does not at all make them credible.

too many believe for some reason they are, and the more subs they have the more so... but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

it’s one guys opinion on the knife, not better than yours or mine... but uploaded to the web to be viewed publicly.

I don’t watch many YouTube vids on knives nowadays - most of the time the guy reviewing the knife has opinions that I do not share...

I owned a lot of these as a kid, and I most certainly was a knife collector.
I liked them because for some strange reason I thought every pocket knife had to be tactical badass and fast, but all I did was collect them for the most part.
I didn't think they were necessarily any good but they were cool and affordable.

I truly wish I had not had access to YouTube as a teenager because it discouraged me with this false idea that the only good knives were expensive .
I only ever heard about spyderco and benchmade and such, not knowing there were quality knives I could afford I kept buying the junk longer than I should have because it was the only way I knew to stay in the hobby.

I doubt the youtuber needs a 'lifelong' to collect all these "gas station" knives, and from the look of his channel, maybe this is just one of those 'fun' videos featuring any cheap, novelty knives that he came across?

There is no 'right or wrong' about this hobby, and if collecting inexpensive 'fun' knives would make him happy, so be it.

I didnt make it. His guttural noises were to much me. His piling technique makes me assume he'd make a comment like ' I use every knife I buy." Unbeknownst to everyone that he meant as Legos.
