Seen this yet? Breacher Bar

Looks like a great tool to keep in the 'ol glovebox.

Thanks for the headsup.

Is 1045 a high carbon steel - or medium carbon?

Seeing the other items available from various makers, I supposed it could be ok, but the short length, blunt tip, and lack of a comfortable handle seem to compromise it's performance compared to say, a Stanley FUBAR, or Hallligan tool.

I see the GI Tanto as offering more utility for the same price - and knowing the vendors penchant for originality in product designs, I wonder what the original offered that made the item what it should have been.

Gollnick's rule: If you wouldn't want to get hit in the head with it, then it goes in the trunk.

In a violent accident (and mine was a roll-over in which the car rolled three times around), the glove box, the center console, the map pockets, all of the internal compartments WILL come open and spew their contents into the air around you. I found a Benchmade 970 which had been stashed in the glove box, locked open and impaled into the back seat. Lucky it was the back seat and not me.

I know, I know, I know.... you're a good driver and have never had an accident. I hit ice on the road. And besides, if you're not worried about yourself causing an accident, worry about all the other <explicative deleted> drivers out there.

Oh, and suction cups will definitely let go in an accident and even Velcro and even double-sided foam tape will let loose in an accident depending on the mass of the thing attached. So, if you wouldn't want to get hit in the head with it, either bolt it down or put it in the trunk.

Looks like a useful tool for a fairly reasonable price. I'm sick and tired of seeing overpriced crap designed to separate fools from their money. Of course, that is a time honored tradition in the business world, isn't it?

1045 is the lowest carbon content that can be hardened and not very hard at that ! It's good for someone who is asked to 'lend me your knife' who really wants a hammer, prybar , etc !

Good points and if you saw the amount of crap laying in the front of my work truck you'd roll your eyes at me and sigh. :D
mainboards , 40 lbs of weights, old hard drives , cd's etc.
Not to mention I have the habit of putting my toolbag upfront with me when I drive.

thats exactly the point of it just a beater utility sharpened prybar

Man never thought of that in a rollover I'd probably have saws, hammers and all manner of other carpentry tools stickin out of me. Ouch!

I'll never forget a government funded defensive driving school instructor who fully supports "Gollnick's Rule". He told a memorable personal account of getting hit in the head with his own bowling ball during an accident. Apparently an accident that was long enough to case the bowling ball to further roll about the floor boards hampering control of the vehicle before he could come to a complete stop.

At least get rid of the weights RebelT!

I know , I know. ( so get off my butt and do it allready)
I'm off for four days , plenty of time to re-arrange my gear.
Thanks for the concern Zen :D:)

Consider this though , my old work vehicle was a Chevy van with no cage to stop the ridiculous amount of gear and equipment we carry on a daily basis , thank God I never got into a head-on or I'd have ben toast.

Anyways , I'm ordering one of those beauts today after family festivities.

took a look at their site, and they have a couple other interesting odds and ends...

but not a lot of info...

i put one of the stainless steel 'peanut lighters' in the cart, and checked out, and they wanted ~$8 for shipping...

not sure how if its a flat rate, but personally i think thats a bit steep to ship a tiny item ~60 miles...

anyone have any experience ordering from them, or know anything about their shipping policies?

thanx

i think the shipping is $8 until your total gets up to $50 or something like that. i've made a few orders from there and have always been satisfied. throw some p-38's and SO-LEDs in your cart, they're great. i've got way too much of their stuff.

My wife and where going home after a party one night, And got rear ended by a street racer. My wife had large bowl of left overs on her lap, Well the bowl ended up knocking her out and not to mention the contents all over her and the insde of the car. So we now put all "stuff" in the trunk.

None of my cars have a trunk!

Neither do mine. I'm afraid I'll stay up all night worrying about flying debris now.

County Comm has some decent little gift items that cost little but are useful. I just received my order a few days ago.

My van doesn't have a trunk either. I got a huge duffel bag and put everything in it. I figure it's too heavy to shift much.
