Seiko orange monster, how do you like yours?

I love auto's or solar watches, especially in a dive watch. when the battery needs replacing in a watch rated to 200+ meters, good luck finding a shop that can replace it properly under pressure. Also, my biggest fear when planning a dive trip is that the watch battery will die while I'm in some far away location.

The Seiko is just a bit too heavy for me. I grabbed an Oris Titan. It's a little wider (44mm vs. 42.5mm), but it's a bit thinner (12mm vs. 13mm). The big difference is that the Oris is made completely from titanium, band and watch case. Picture below is with the changeable rubber strap, also pretty light. Once you get used to having a sizable dive watch, this thing disappears on your wrist.

For beating around I got a Citizen Eco-Drive, before they came out with these bad boys with the carbon fiber bezels. Wish I would've waited and picked up one of these. I think they're very cool looking!

i like your oris they are good looking well made watches, thats a good looking one ya got there, they are a lot more expensive than the monsters though.

imho for the $$ the monsters are hard to beat, i have an older '79 model seiko divers which i got new and its never ever had the back off and still runs fine,

the marathons are also a similar style watch albeit a little higher dollar watch (`$550 or so) ya also might consider.

another brand i like is sinn (i want a sinn acrylic chrono!) they also make some dang good looking watches, imho they are similar to oris.

I have a Black Monster with Steel bracelet. I've worn it continuously for abot 18 months without any problems. Great watch, very comfortable. They do have a 'special' feel to them and I have had people comment favourably on it.

eh...cleaned mine yesterday. Ran it under some water and it seems like water may have gotten inside. I hear some swishing around in there which I never noticed before. Is that just how the mechanism sounds when you shake the watch or have I just potentially ruined my OM?

Mine is in the bottom of a drawer. Its not that I dont like it... Its just that I find myself going for my doxa seaconquerer if I want orange, my marathon GSAR if I want rugged, and my suunto x-9mi if I'm going outdoors. If I want different I go with sub750 Carribean... If I ever get around to getting my SCUBA cert, I'll probably use it!

Assuming I'm not using my citizen Aqualand at the time...

I'm sure its just the weight inside moving the lever to charge the spring.

Put the watch in a cold environment and see if any condensation forms inside the crystal.

the mechanism on my older one makes quite a racket when its winding FWIW i doubt ya hurt anything...........

No condensation. Watch is functioning normal. Guess I just didn't notice that shifting weight before. Thanks guys.

Sorry for the slight thread drift there.

I have a Black Monster and it's a nice watch. I also have a SKX007, SKX009, 6309-7040 on a custom Orb strap, and will soon have a SOXA feiko that is built off a Seiko Rally case similar to a 6309-7040. All are great watches. About the only thing I am really salivating for is a Citizen Ecozilla (a REAL monster!). Anyway, the Black Monster has a GREAT steel bracelet. Very high quality. After my brief obsession with the other Seiko divers I feel like the Monster is a little cheesy looking in a way. The 007/009 and especially the 6309 are just so understated and cool, to me. The Black Monster is probably the only watch I own that people go, "Cool watch" when I wear it, though. I like the weight of it and it is built on the same automatic movement as the 007/009 divers, which has proven over time to be tough as hell. You should be able to find a lightly used Monster for $100 or less. Same with a 007.
