I chose the 4 to 4.5, although I would have wanted a 4-5 in choice, because I think the practical use of a smaller blade with all the cutting tasks involved is more realistic to the average user. I sense where a larger blade is a good all around knife if no other tools are available as stated in the OP’s original post, but a survival situation for several weeks does not sound like a survival situation but a a longer planned expedition or experience. Where one would have a choice of more tools like a saw or hatchet. So, to be honest, I thought the survey was a little skewed towards a large knife anyway if there is no option for other tools. No disrespect meant, but the average user will be much better served with a medium fixed blade, most are not going to baton wood, and the longer time frame I expect more tool choice. Now if a zombie apocalypse happens or a hostile terrorist group make a move at causing tragedy, then I expect the bigger the better if I am heading out of Dodge. I would grab machete or one of my Hudson Bay knives. Good discussion.
