The Buck Selector knife handle allows you to easily install any Selector blade you have without tools and have a terrific lock back folder that suits your immediate needs.

What are the top ten blades you would like to see (not already available)?

Chime in an I'll put those suggestions with traction into this list (my starter list shown as an example) showing rank with the first spot the most popular and the tenth place the least likely to succeed:

Real List:

[B]
1. saw, capable of serious/violent action, big, double tooth, mean and nasty

2. file

3. wharncliff blade

4. screwdriver (flathead & Phillips) with micro light, torx, hex

5. clam pack ripper, belt cutter

6. super steel versions of the existing 10 different Selector blade shapes (most particularly the clip, drop, hawk and skinner)

7. sodbuster (flat ground drop-point)

8. Damascus blade

9. pen blade, for whittling

10. spoon/fork (spork)

Outstanding Suggestions Pleasantly Offered By Gifted & Much Respected Members:

bird hook
scissors
nose hair trimmer
knapped steel
mirror
fingernail file
pizza cutter
potato peeler
note worthy words of caution by our dear leader 300: Don't clutter a brilliant hunting tool with buffoonery gadgets you wouldn't take on a long walk or survival episode

example list:
1. bottle opener

2. can opener

3. comb

4. space pen

5. pencil

6. ruler

7. tongue depressor

8. magnifying glass

9. fork

10. ferrocerium rod flint fire starter

You know I bet you that if Buck was to issue all of the 10 existing Selector blades in SUPER STEEL some excitement and some enthusiasm would ensue. Say S30V or D2 or 154CM or pick your favorite. Yea. I would buy a set. Yes I would.

Sidebar: I would really like a clear, bulletproof glass, Selector handle. Oh yes I would. Uh huh. :)

I've always thought Buck should have made a decent saw blade for this model. The saw blade they made available with it was not enough. Just too small to be effective. Something like this is what I'm meaning.

Screwdriver blade with micro LED light.
A blade that will open a clam pack leaving your fingers intact.
Can't have a fork without a spoon.

I have considered my selector as a game or survival tool. Not a EDC knife. I only carry mine on big game hunts. Not pheasant, dove, trout fishing, canoeing, etc. So I look at it as a multiblade knife to gut, skin and cut-up a deer, elk, moose, pig etc. If I find a big skinner blade I will have the hunting set. I agree with David, the saw is barely adequate to cut a leg bone or pelvis.

A file might be useful in a survival situation, as would screw blades. But, now days you would have to have flat, Phillips, hex and torx. Just guess on a compromise size ? What about a fire making blade either a flint/steel or a small mag glass. But with these odd-balls why would you have them in the knife. You would end up with a knife in a giant sheath.. just get a SAK. The selector in the long walk hunting mode or a survival situation needs to just be a knife with a couple of special use blades for CUTTING. All that other stuff for eating, bottle opening, fire making, screw driving can be carried in your small survival bag. A good match out of a WP match safe is hard to beat as is my silva compass. Some paracord and we are ready to survive. About a dozen folded up paper towels is nice also, know what I mean....

A bird hook I may need some education on. I always thought that was what you called your finger. I just am not genteel I guess.

Agreed, it was mfg. as a hunting tool. Perhaps with some of the existing blades a Workman type knife. Carpenter, Nurseryman and carpet layers knife. Toward many of the tools mentioned I'd get a Swiss Army. I've sharpened a small green hook stick for cleaning birds and fish. Which does a good job. On paper towels, soap and such---- don't leave home without it! DM

Pizza cutter
Sissor's
Fingernail file
Pen blade, for whittling a note on something;)

I'll go along with a decent saw blade as mentioned above.

I'm satisfied with the clip point and hawkbill blades already available.

Some photos of Buck Selector blades that do exist:

The only Selector blade made by buck that is not shown in this post is this 1/2 serrated hawks bill:

I count TEN different Buck Selector blades. 10 in total. That is it. Anyone know of more Buck-made Selector blades?

The existing TEN different shapes of Selector blades:

1. clip
2. serrated clip
3. drop-point
4. serrated drop-point
5. gutting
6. serrated gutting
7. sawblade
8. hawk
9. serrated hawk
10. skinner

Those are the only ones that I know of, but some of the blades had nail nicks that were on the "wrong" side to adapt to the 2 blade Selector model. So if you wanted every permutation, there would be more than 10.
I have modified many premium 110 blades to fit the Selector handle. I especially like the Ion Fusion blades.

OK. Thank you.

The big drop point blade with all the belly in post 14, first pic, on right, third down from the top: Did that one come in serrated and 1/2 serrated? It appears so much bigger than the other drop point blades and I wonder about its origin (is it genuine Buck made?).

That is not named a 'drop point blade'. It is the Skinner blade. It is indeed a Buck mfg.. It was not offered with serrations. That blade is hard to come by as not so many were made. That skinner blade is a great performer on tough hog or elk hide. Especially if they had fat reserves built up from visiting some farmers alfalfa meadow. When looking at it put Buck's 103 fixed blades skinner beside it and you'll notice the similarities. DM

Oh, I'd also like to see a sodbuster type blade. Just like the one on David's knife in post #3. David can you post a better photo of your knife with that blade, looks like you have polished now.

Thanks

JB, yes I finished it with a mirror polish. As this helps with corrosion abilities and enhances cutting. Your welcome. DM
