Self-Defense Emerson

How you going to pack that coke bottle around with you???? Is it listed on your CCW????

since i wear it iwb, most people just stare.

sometimes they ask, "is that a coke bottle in your pocket, or ...."

:)

sorry for the thread hijack. im tired. its been a long week.

The combat kbit is awesome. nothing wrong with it that I experienced. It might not be as great for edc due to the blade shape, maybe a commander will be better.

mike

even on people with jackets covering their arms? :D

the combat kerambit is absolutely not a utility blade. the cqc and bullnose would be better for utility purposes, but are still mainly for sd.

if utility is more important, a cqc 7 or snubby will work well. and with the wave you still have a damn fine sd blade.

the combat kerambit is indeed not a utilty blade, but the other blade shapes seem to be aimed more at utility use over the regular blade shape, they are not as good for SD as the combat kerambit, i didnt like the commander or the cqc7 karambits but i thought the spear point version was ok. still not great but much better for EDU than the combat kerambit.

i would still say the 14 is his best choice but if its the kerambit handle he likes and wants the spear point is about as good a bridge between the two as you will get from EKI.

Get the 14 - it can do utility and SD.

You're gonna use the knife for cutting up sandwiches and boxes a lot more than fighting off bad guys.

You can also take it out in public without freaking people out.

id have recomended the 12 over any thing els as well but it needs to be sub 3" so the 12 is a no goer.

The Karambit is going to be excellent at penetrating heavy/thick jackets! The point is absolutely wicked......

This is where the Super has an advantage over the standard length. Not only is the blade longer but the handle is as well, so you get about 1.5" of extra "reach" to get you through thick jackets.

I have always been a proponent of the .45acp. But if you can't carry one then I would have to say if you want an EKI pretty much any of them will suffice for s.d. Handle ergo's as far as I am concerned are the best on Emersons. They just fit tight into my hand. I think the 11 is totally under rated and you don't hear much about it here but trust me the slight recurve and thick point that still pierces is excellant. The 13 is great too. Very needle like point. I carry a 14 currently in pe or pse depending. Also have a couple of 7's and a 13 but personally I think not nearly as nice as the 14. The grip ergo's are first rate and for some reason to me the blade looks bigger than it actually is. I mean come on, an under 3" knife that cuts bigger than it is with a grip like that? You ain't gonna get no better imho. keepem sharp

PS Coke bottle or any bottles won't work on the end of a revovler barrel as most of the of the noise comes out of the cylinder.!
It might work on a rifle though that uses a closed breech, like a bolt action I would think

If self defense is your only concern, get a Le Griffe. It's the only thing you will ever need.

Yeah, you could make an argument to get a La Griffe for SD and a CQC 12 for utility (and heavier duty SD)and be done with the whole Emerson thing.

(as well as the whole light-medium knife thing in general)
