Self-Defense Knife Suggestions

Here are some good internet dealers:
-Bayou Lafourche (I'm sure you've noticed the posts from its owner or at least an advertisement)
-Discount Knives ( also ads here... discountknives.com)
-Top of Texas (also has ads here... toptexknives.com)
-The Knifecenter (lots of info, too... knifecenter.com)
~The first 3 are great people! Never had any contact with the Knifecenter though. I strongly recommend that if you don't go with a maker that visits the forum (like I said, there are a few, all with pretty darn good prices), you buy from one of them.
You're lucky! I've never seen many of these knives in person! No one in Charlotte carries REKAT, for instance. If you're looking for a good "tactical" folder, I hope you have internet access, 'cuz the only places you'd find it are in malls, where you can't get a Benchmade anything for less then $150, and all other brands are equally overpriced.

I think you would be best served with something like the Benchmade 710 axis lock.I used to have a couple,I'am getting another one because I miss it so much.Extremely strong locking mechanism, reasonable price, good design.I think it would serve defense and utility purposes well. Thanks,RS

I concur with Tombstone. Axis 710 should serve you well for utility too. I also like Valqeuro. You may consider Cold Steel El Hombre plain edge if you hate small saration.

Does anyone have a pic of the Spyderco Civilian? I have never seen one.

Did I mention the Carnivore? Anyway here is a picture of the civilian. Nice defensive piece, but not better for much more than that.
