Sell all knives and keep one?

I'm going to introduce a scenario, say you really needed some money for a family emergency, or you really just got tired of the hobby. And you had to sell all your knives 😱(fixed blade and folders) but you could keep one single knife, what would that knife be and why? Pics would be great:) . I just thought this would be an interesting concept and wanted to know everyone's opinions. P.S no multi tools or hatchets. Just knives

Thanks for replying😆

I wont lie to you I much rather get kicked in the groin once a month than part ways with my knives.

In the end stuff is stuff, so I might just keep the most utilitarian thing.

I'd be ok with parting with knives I have that are famous or popular models but nothing special or very dear to me, like production knives like the SOG SEAL2000 and such

I'd have an even harder time getting rid of knives gifted to me

Then it'd be almost suicide to get rid of the real special ones, be it because they're custom made or because they have some special trait ( like my Busse B11)

The "knife" per se that I have designated as my go-to knife in general for any situation is my Fällkniven A1, so if we're speaking of keeping a literal knife then I keep that one I guess, and then get severely drunk.

BUT the Fällkniven is not the thing I always use to cut, which is in fact the S30V folder on my Leatherman Charge TTi, which is objectively my most used cutting / utility thing.

I make it real easy here but I'd much rather have all the furniture and home commodities sold before my dear knives.

EDIT (because this is such a troublesome and convoluted subject): My Leatherman is also signed by Tim Leatherman himself with a "Best Wishes", so I guess that's one more reason to ditch the Fällkniven and keep the multitool.

SECOND EDIT: Not only is it signed, If I travel to an area where I might really need a medium or big knife, I can buy it in a local shop and just use what the natives use. I can't do that with the Leatherman.

So now, 100% I (bitterly) keep my Leatherman Charge TTi (and try to forget about everything)

Do multi tools count as knives? Cuz I could get 99% of what I need done with my Leatherman wave and a PM2, but where's the fun in that? I like options! Lol

If I had to sell them all, I'd just keep a Vic SAK or traditional in a large trapper pattern made by GEC (#42 pattern). Selling them all is not likely to happen to me. A more likely scenario is they would head to the landfill.

That is the reality if I am not present to deal with my own "estate". Sounds harsh. The knives would get picked through by my wife's children or grand children. The rest would probably go in a garage sale or to the landfill.

Selling all of my knives because I needed the money would be an exercise in futility as it would generate perhaps a couple thousand dollars at resale prices. I have an accumulation, not a collection. The money generated would pay my mortgage for a month.... waste of time unless you just like to buy and sell. I did that with firearms for about 10 years and discovered that I just about broke even... made good on a few, but most "profit" was under $50 with some losses. It just wasn't worth all the hassle. It's a hobby.

A more sensible approach with knives for me is to sell to one of the knife show dealers you meet at a show in bulk or mass and do the best I could dollar-wise.

Won't happen, I would seek alternative means of coming up with the necessary funds, maybe sell a couple knives. But more then likely sell a vehicle and take out a loan.

Either Large Sebenza or Fallkniven F1.Why,well they are simple, easy maintenance, quality hard working tools.

Well, for sure it would be a fixed blade. And a large one. And most likely this one:

I guess if I had to go down the road with jus tone knife, it'd be my Northwoods stockman. Or any stockman of that matter. Three blades in one package gives great visibility. A few tools in the wallet will take care of other stuff.

I would probably end up keeping my HI Ang Khola. It was one of the first gifts my fiancée bought for me. The only ones that would really hurt to sell would be the gifts I have received. The rest make me happy and I frequently use, but they are, after all, just things and could be replaced when I got back to a place that I could spare the cash.

I think that's a good practical choice. I like the two blade trapper (jack knife) better, but that is just personal preference. The Northwoods two blade Madison would be very high on my keeper list. I just hope I never have to travel down the one knife road. I haven't had one knife since I was in high school and at that time it was a Case jack knife (two blade).

Been looking at the Leatherman CS and PS style multi-tools now. They are small and since I seldom really need to apply much pressure on such a tool, they are going to work out in my "work tool" accumulation. I do like the Vic tools for a larger size.

We just had this thread a little while ago. I mentioned my custom shoppe Buck 110, and I stand by that.

I would become a knife juggler to earn the needed money. That way I could keep at least three knives...maybe more if I really practiced. :D

I would keep a Busse HOGFSH. In my opinion the best all around woods/survival knife you could want.
