Hi all! I bought my boys LT Wright GNS's for Christmas - now something for me.

I'm looking for a fixed EDC, but with some fairly narrow specs I've nailed down:

OAL: 7.5" max
Blade length: approximately 3 - 3.5"
Blade: Drop, spear, or clip
Grind: flat, sabre
Steel: Corrosion resistance preferred, easy sharpening
Handle: Blasted micarta, lanyard hole preferred
Currently available online, no wait.
Budget: $150 or less

So there it is. I've looked at Blind Horse an LT Wright (the hunter Pro Elite looks great, but hard to find one; the Frontier Valley just misses, and the Patriot is too small).

Show me what I'm missing, please! Pics and links GREATLY appreciated.

Regards,

Jeremy

EnTrek Badger (440c made in USA)
KaBar Snody Boss (s35vn made in USA)
(Polymer handle)
TOPS Bird and Trout (440c made in USA)
Böker Plus Coye Ridgeback (440c made in China)
(Note, the incl. sheath/clip isn't the best)
Böker Solid Forest (D2 made in Germany)
(Maybe a bit over budget)

Some of the smaller bushbaby series from Arno Bernard might fit your budget as well, though may be smaller then you want. *And handle materials will me more exotic the micarta; wood, bone, wart hog...

I love my tanto.

Hey thanks for the shout out! I could totally make this guy a knife to the specs he wants. The only problem is the whole "no wait time" thing :P It does take me about a week to make em, I WISH I could just make them appear instantly! It would make things a whole lot easier lol

@strategy9 - Thanks for all the great recommendations. None of those were on my radar.

@TKD - I may have to drop you a line...

Anyone else have some hidden gems for me?

Spyderco Street Beat. Just over 7", 3.5" blade vg10 steel, pretty rust resistant and sharpens to a fine edge easily. You can find it online for under $150. Only thing that doesn't meet your criteria is the handle. It's polished micarta. With the finger choil it gives a good solid grip though.

ShadowTech knives..... several knives they make fit your criteria.

Get an ESEE Izula 2, OP! They're available in 440C if you want stainless and the warranty is top notch. I've got the original Izula, love carrying and using it. There's also a survival kit available that it can come with as an option, if that's your thing.

Lots of good suggestions!

@Hawg - Looked at ShadowTech. Interesting, but I think their aesthetic leans a little more 'tactical' than mine

@NJBillK - The EO1 looks nice. Have you tried the EDC version? Can you get 4 fingers on it, or do you need to step up to the hunter?

@Kwon - I've been resisting the Izula, but your endorsement has me weakening...

Anyone else?

This one will meet all of your needs.

KaBar/Becher EsKaBar or BK11. Coated for corrosion resistance and you could buy 2 of each with your budget. I prefer the ESEE3 in D2 (if you can find one). I carried one for several years.

I love my Spyderco Mule Team in Super Blue, but don't EDC it much. Also, the MT can be had in many different exotic steels.

It's $9.00 over your budget ($159 including shipping direct from Bradford) but my favorite fixed in that size range is the Bradford Guardian 3. Comes in M390 or CPM-3v.

Another option, that is below your budget, is the Becker BK24 and TKC G-10 scales.

Regarding the EO1 and the edc handle length, only You can answer whether it will fit all 4 fingers on it. Everyone has a different size and shape hand.

Grab a ruler and see how a 3 1/2" handle would fit. Don't forget the scales are rounded so they will be more comfortable than said ruler, lol.

I would suggest talking to John (JK Knives) and inquiring about having a knife built For You at Your dimensions. His EO1 line is one of the best bang for the buck offerings regarding having a custom made for you. On top of that his HT of his O1 is Spot on and is one of my favorites.

Take a look at the damage this one endured.
